Hey Mathew great video , a no nonsense over edited thing & your were clear in your commentary thanks . I .m looking to move into full grain brewing after making 6 brews from the can type brews and have found that they all seem to turn out tasting the same and are too dark in colour for my liking and hoping i can get a bit of variety with the full grain route I did find a recipe which i saved for a cherry beer that used champagne yeast the seemed appealing to me cheers Mal

@@malcolmwhite-b3m Glad it helped. I've been really busy with school, so I haven't made many more videos, but I'll be making more around the end of the year when I'm finished with my degree.

Hey, thank you for the information. I am planning to buy one of those at the end of the year. I noticed that the video was uploaded a year ago, are you still using it? Have you encountered any issues so far with the equipment? Any impact on the electric bill? Thanks and cheers 🎉

@cadejogaming864 Hey man, not really. Everything is pretty smooth. Been using it. Just treat it well and it'll do the job.

One question I do have to use a separate pump for cooling or . If the same pump of the machine?
@matthewgregory730411 күн бұрын
@patlaf3680 the pump only circulates the liquid inside your kettle. So, for cooling you'll want to hook up a cold water stream to your coil. It's not too difficult.

Are you using the 8 Gal or 9.2 Gal model?

Just unboxing mine. I cant lift thr grain basket out. it wont go pst the wire ring its suppose to rest on. how do you lift it out? please
@matthewgregory73043 ай бұрын
@user-wt9hf4df2l You have to turn it. It you look, there's protruding parts of the inner ring for the feet to fit on, and then there are concave areas so that you can turn the basket and the feet will slip out. That tricked me too, lol

Can you sparge with the grain basket up and draining? After adding more hot water?
@matthewgregory7304 Жыл бұрын
I do. The Vevor has a pump that you can switch on to circulate but I wouldn’t use it to sparge. I brew 8 gals and will strike with 6ish and the sparge afterward to get it up to 8. Seems to work fine. If your OG/FG is off, you can always add a lb or 2 of cane sugar during your boil to bump it up 1 or 2%.
@sfazey Жыл бұрын
@@matthewgregory7304 Why would you not use it to sparge? If the arm is long enough, it looks like a perfect scenario with the basket up and spreading the water over the grain bed. I'm really close to buying one, that's why I ask. Thanks
@matthewgregory7304 Жыл бұрын
@@sfazey Because then you’re sparging with your mash. Not rinsing your grain with clean water to rinse all the sugars off your grain. I’ve just found that I get better results if you sparge without the pump.

I’m curious how you are calculating your strike water volume - typically it’s around 1.25 quarts per pound of grain - if you are doing 15 pounds of grain I would think 3 gallons is the correct number but you said you’ve got about 5 gallons of water in the pot. So, are you adding additional water because of the loss due to the false bottom sitting up?

It’s awkward, but if you lube up the edges of it with some water, it will slide in much easier.
