Captain Disillusion is a relic of old youtube who's still just as amazing as he was back then. I'm glad he finally got the recognition he deserves. Edit: I didn't intend for this to seem rude or as a backhanded compliment. I should mention that I've been subbed to him since 2008 when my channel was made. The Captain along with Andrew kramer, real G's know about video copilot, are the ones who originally got me into vfx. I was about 12 back then. I'm now 23 and I'm working on getting a career in vfx!

Fun fact about what they said about the gun in the doom clip being filmed separately, is that in First Person Shooter games the gun is also being rendered independently by a different camera put on top of the rest. That way if you clip the weapon through something, by being to close to a wall for example, the model will always appear in its entirety instead of half of it being behind a wall. (probably very well known fact but thought it was an interesting coincidence)

@@ipraytovodka I'd say it's usual. Not every time, but typically. They almost always shoot multiple episodes at the same time with Gui and Eric, they did multiple episodes with Seth Rogen, Freddie, Nick's dad, Scott Adkins, etc. As the series has gone on, guests are usually for more than one episode. The first guests, not so much, but lately, it's pretty usual.

12:30 literally yesterday I watched a video explaining that video games themselves actually do the same thing. Looking closely at the geometry, if you walk right up to a wall in most FPS games holding a long gun, it should either collide with or clip through the wall, but in most games it doesn’t. It’s rendered as a seperate element so that the end never clips into things.

I love all you guys from the absolute bottom of my heart. And if you'll allow it, a story with context for you... CptD you have been an absolute favorite for a very long time (sorry I was not subscribed... there was a very deliberate reason as to why). Cant remember where you were first discovered... maybe ebaumsworld or albinoblacksheep, one of those E/N sites where you were surely hot linked. The love of your work has stuck with me from the first moment your videos played... Which is my onewheel (or Segway) into my next feeling... CptD, without you, and that gift of love you've passed along... all the entertainment, KNOWLEDGE and joy... bolstering my already curious mind every time I watch a CptD vid. I truly believe I'd never have found Corridor Digital.. Corridor Crew... you and your team were and are there for me at a time I needed... something.. wasn't sure at the time (my dark ages as I like to refer to those years) what it was at that time but.... CD.. EVERYTHING you guys do... changes me for the better. I look for learnable and teachable moments everyday... you all continue to provide something I very much NEED (not just want) everyday. That video of Niko and how he manages people... *chef kiss* I'm in management... happy to admit, I stole from your "bag of tricks". NAY! You inspired me to be better. Thank you for always leaving things better than you found it. Thanks for being such AMAZING educators. I'm passing my love for VFX (specifically break downs) down to my kids. We watch movies differently now because of you all. As a single dad of 2, its not always easy to connect with children. CaptD and CC... Thank you so much.

Fuck, seeing a flash of James Randy on that Captain Disillusion clip, I went to check how he's doing and apparently, the grandad of what Captain and the Corridor Crew do in reacting to videos has died just over a year ago. @enlightendbel
@enlightendbel 2 жыл бұрын
@@jimmydean8007 I also saw him as a kid but did see more of him in the 90's and 00's as many skeptics and atheism upstarts on KZbin and other platforms included his mindset and himself in their videos and thinking. Penn and Teller were also good friends with Randy and they had practically the same mindset in terms of magicianship too. And they also did programs exposing bullshit and charlatans. People should know, Randy had a prize challenge to psychics and other paranormal claimants that started in 1964 and ended with his retirement in 2015 for starting at $10K and growing to $1M in the 00's. The prize was never successfully claimed while all these people needed to do was demonstrate their powers and abilities on camera without Randy or people like Penn and Teller being able to replicate or debunk them where they stood.
