You guys have shocked me. I worked on those same shots that Adam Savage worked on for Matrix Revolutions 18 years ago, and until today, I had no idea he was behind the practical side of the FX. I animated the lightning coming off of the Mjolner ship as it crashed through the gate and fell. I can add to the narrative here. We ended up replacing much of the ship in CGI, presumably because the model had more detail added in post production. There were also CGI sentinel(squiddy) robots added at the bottom of frame, being kicked up by the debris and crash. I was impressed with how convincing the blue lightning looked in how it lit up the smoke elements.

I love how with real fans, despite some disagreements with things like the script of the prequels, almost everyone agrees the work on the practical effects was absolute top notch. Personally I quite like the prequels, and I love the sets and models they did. And I love Adam's descriptions of how the set designers work in their own backstory to each prop or set model. You see similar depth of work with things like Blade Runner where the art department thought about the past use backstory of each item or building when designing it and it just adds so much nuance to the worldbuilding that's unspoken.

If you like that kind of visual storytelling you'll love the production of Mad Max: Fury Road. They didn't write a script; instead, they made thousands of storyboards in which they could showcase all the different designs and visual worldbuilding that the artists had in mind; so the movie is cluttered to the brink with detail, but everything is cohesive and doesn't distract from the story, it just adds to it. Damn, every time i see Adam i get hit by such a huge nostalgia surge. This guy filled my childhood and young adulthood, he made me passionate about science and most importantly taught me to question and test everything, no matter how silly or pointless it might look at first. Of course the rest of the Mythbusters crew also played a significant role in that, but somehow Adam was and still is the most vivid representation of the spirit of that show. Had HUUUUGE crush on Kari ( i mean who hadn't), laughed almost to unconsciousness with Tory and his ability to self inflict injuries, was completely amazed by Grant and Jamie's ability to built incredible stuff, but Adam was like the finishing touch to all of that. The pure unrated, unfiltered emotion coming out of him is what bridged the TV and the viewers. His grown child personality on the show bonded perfectly with the inner child in each and everyone of us. As for the video... well for me personally it's the best react video on this channel so far.

I've always loved Star Trek's ships, I often typify the difference between design philosophies is that Wars' ships are created by engineers, Trek's ships are created by artists. The more i learn about the production of the prequels, the more i respect George Lucas. The man had issues with writing and at times direction, but he genuinely respect the craft of all the experts that he brought in to help create the world of star wars.

It's why I think the Prequels work better than the Sequels. They had some real passion to them, whereas the Sequels feel a bit corporate from The Mouse.
@FablestoneSeries2 жыл бұрын
It took many years for people to realize, but George wasn't the problem. It was all the sycophants he had surrounding him who weren't challenging him, or telling him the harsh truths he needed to hear. In his gut he already knew he had pushed the silly goofy slap stick stuff too far, but all the yes men surrounding him just kept telling him how amazing it would be.
@Сайтамен2 жыл бұрын
@@FablestoneSeries Basically it boils down to people being flabbergasted that the people Lucas hired to help him make the prequels were largely in sync with him creatively (you know, as you might expect) and didn't constantly trash talk him while being filmed for behind-the-scenes footage. There's no real evidence that Lucas was surrounded by "yes men" to a greater extent than is usually the case. There's this whole mythology about how Lucas was constantly being challenged and put in his place by others during the making of the original trilogy, but if you do a little actual research you find very little evidence of that either, besides some claims made by disgruntled ex-producer Gary Kurtz who was fired halfway through Empire for incompetence and spent the next several decades constructing a self-aggrandizing narrative which recast himself as the hero of Star Wars.
@cenciende94012 жыл бұрын
@@KanyeT1306 Wrong. You clearly have no goddamn clue about JJ and TFA/RO were both great, if you want to blame someone blame Rian Johnson for screwing up the second film and by extension Kathleen Kennedy for hiring him.
@FablestoneSeries2 жыл бұрын
@@Сайтамен challenging a person creatively doesn't involve trash talking them. I don't remember his name, he was one of the producers, and he is a real smooth talking, slime ball salesman. watching him in every clip, you immediately get the sense he was little more than a no talent cheerleader. George was suggesting they cut all the slap stick from the movies but this idiot was like cheering him on the whole time. You don't see this side of Hollywood much. There is the famous talk Kevin Smith did about the notorious producer who ruined his Superman movie with his ridiculous requests to have Superman never wear the suit, never fly, and to fight a giant spider. Every block buster movie flop in the last 30 years you can tie to producers interfering with the creative process for one reason or another. I work in film and have been fortunate enough not to work on any flops, but i have worked on enough movies that I seen morale suffer greatly due to the ridiculous decisions being forced on them by pencil pushing executives.
