What do you mean keeping it alive? Wizzy got 8th at lmbm, 2nd at glitch and 5th at genesis and has wins on Fatality, Esam, Sinji, Cosmos, Dabuz, Light and Tweek.

Once Maister decided to let Dark Wizzy approach more he racked up the easy % by punishing every nair on shield and got the easy win in games 3 and 4

Would suggest that it is better to play against him defensively and counter him rather than the other way around - Game and watch's ability to continously land punishment is far too high to let it happen over and over - would be almost better to play chaotically and abandon a game plan than to have one in mind that doesn't involve simply changing to a character that can more easily fight Game and Watch - since D Wizzy only plays professionally as Mario, it makes him a very good mario, but even the best player of a single character is still limited to that character how they play it - IMO playing against a Game and Watch - or THE game and watch maister himself warrants a counter pick - I think that sword characters or any character with a disjointed hit box on their ability to attack rather than be inside close quarters range would be preferable, it would at least make getting inside easier to play as a sword character for example, a fast one like Roy or Chrom or even one with a range advantage that places their attacks away from their own hit box like Byleth might be better. Ah well, would take some of the fun out of the challnege of it I suppose.

@@DekkarJr While I get what you're saying...I think if it was as easy as 'Pick a sword character" to beat Maister, many would have done that by now. Yes Dark Wizzy plays professionally as Mario, but many professionals have other characters in their back pocket, look at ESAM with Samus, Samsora with Zelda, Nairo with....anybody lol. Yet few if any counter pick. And it'snot like Maister is unbeaten. Matchup experience could play a role in it too.

@@DekkarJr mario doesnt lose this matchup.Maister just played well.Also its not as simple as picking a swordie to beat maister as game and watches up b forces swordies to space absolutely perfectly since its frame freakin 3.Also swordies are tall which is a plus for game n watch.Controlling center stage is such an important skill when fighting game n watch because game n watch can just box you out with fair shield and nair.Roy and chrom wouldnt be good against game and watch as they have somewhat exploitable recoveries especially chrom.Tbh its easy to say this or that to prop players but in the heat of the moment adapting and analyzing your opponents habits are on another level.Our opinions dont really matter compare to the top players.These are players who do this for a livng.There is so many intricate details in neutral play that we couldnt understand.If you wanna understand replyas of pro players watch armada reviewing sets.

People do seem to have forgotten that GnW lacks confirms. Drag-down nair is barely useable given his falling speed. F-air works at certain percents but GnW has to jump over his opponent, and I think only side-b can get a KO in that window. That really only leaves chef at ledge. Everything else is a read, frame trap, or bait and punish KO.

@@nathanlevesque7812 the thing is game n watch can keep center stage extremely well.Fair is a great ledgetrapping tool and spacing tool.If you full hop fair and land it on an opponents shield you get a free grab and if you double jump you can get two fairs while falling on a shield and shield break.Dragodwn nair is barely useable ye but its not reall a big deal it only does like 20 percent into a jab.Also game n watch can d throw to neutral air to up air to up b which is true.And his neutral and punish game is absurd as well as his disadvantage with dair retreating bair and fair 'And i think only side b can get a KO in that window' what? Who tf uses side b as game n watch XD

Considering how well Wizzy and Mario in general have been doing recently, it is pretty fair to say that Mario is a top 12-15ish character and borderline top tier. I would have preferred they take Mario’s approach when balancing the former top tiers from 4. A lot of those top tiers feel like shadows of their former selves, and while they did lose their cheese, they also lost what made them fun. All Mario really lost in Ult was Up Tilt and 1-Coin Rage combos, yet he still maintains his identity and fun to play factor. Mario is definitely really obnoxious to fight, but I blame that on mechanics not char design. If Ult actually had good DI and SDI, Mario Ladders wouldn’t be as big of a issue as they are.

I feel like the commentators hit the nail on the head with G&W. He has janky movements that can be confusing and moderate damage output, but he dies so early and relies solely on you over committing for a solid kill. People are figuring the matchup out now and Maister is going to drop severely in rank this season. But Dark Wizzy is another who I feel like had a really good run at the end of the last season, but I don't think that is his consistent level and he will drop well below where he is now, too. They're the only two high ranking players I feel were kinda just lucky for different reasons.

There was talk of Maister always being open to do friendlies with people so they can know the MU. It's the ultimate mindset, if everyone knows what to do against your character, it forces you to push back, making you at the end, a better player

Bruh, Maister's demons are literally rank 1, 4 and 5 in the world. If he had any "luck" last season it was bad luck for running into Leo in Losers Bracket at a bunch of tournaments, cutting his placement short -and he still got rank 6.

They also hit the nail on the head on the head about their own actual inability to full render a sentence that would be deemed innapropriate by speaking plainly about Game and Watch and what people think of him and his players - kind of seems like their title shouldn't be "Commentator" - they act like streaming is regulated by the FCC - nah it's much worse than that - it's regulated by twitter and a twitter mob forming against them forces them to censor themselves into suggesting reality rather than stating it plainly and offensively and truthfully.
