5:00 I have to push back on this. That 40% being spent on single player games is equal to the 88% it was before. In other words, if they were spending $2 billion on Single player games before, it’s still $2B now, but they’re now spending an additional $3B on live service games. The problem with this is the cost of single player games has tripled, but they’re still spending the same amount on them as before.

Game development costs are similar regardless. I pay devs. It doesn't matter what game they're developing. Costs are basically the same. Cost 700M to develop Cold War... How many single player games have you heard of with that kind of budget?

@ According to the Insomniac leaks, Spider-Man 2018 was $100 mil Spider-Man 2 was $300 mil. Last of Us was under $100 mil(granted it was PS3 game) Last of Us 2 was over $200 million. Game costs for Sony’s single player games are going up, but the budget for them is basically staying the same.

SONY is very strategic and specific about which games to moneyhat for the express purpose of undermining Xbox, especially games that they were going to sale a majority on PlayStation consoles anyway... Final Fantasy XVI after XV was a multiplat comes to mind... Street Fighter V exclusivity completely undermined Xbox's FGC community that amplified more games missing out on Xbox One, and even now, you see their initiatives with Chinese and South Korean devs, capturing the titles with considerable hype attached

Capcom was struggling at the time, approached Microsoft first, but they didn’t have the budget for KI and SF, and Sony secured it and settled for console exclusivity so it could come to Steam. Street Fighter IV was huge for Xbox and the official version at EVO, after that… Sony became the de facto play forming for the fighting game community. Killer Instinct was amazing when it released, but Street Fighter being a permanent exclusive hurt… so much that Tekken surpassed Street Fighter for the first time with T7 which was a multiplat

I don't even think xbox is gonna get 16 first they are most likely signaling that it's gonna be ported to switch 2 and then later it might be xbox cause if they were gonna port it to xbox they'd have done it by now.

If switch gets it Xbox gets it, Sony only controls the exclusivity to their own system when that lapses it goes everywhere square have already expressed their interest in getting their games everywhere because of how damaging the exclusivity was with Sony

You refuse to talk about them for some reason, but FF Remake and Rebirth will almost also be on the Switch 2. Guess where FF is biggest, Japan. Guess where Switch is biggest, Japan. That's a potential evergreen $60 worth per sale to a potential 30 million userbase.

VG, if Playstation pay to this third party developers to make their game time exclusive, I see it as win-win. Playstation get content to their platform, and these third party games get more marketing.

Im going to buy my first pc handheld, in a few months, I just realised why xbox and playstation are making handhelds, what pc offers over consoles isnt even funny, the day is coming very soon where gamers are going to realise pc just offers too much over consoles. So for Sony and microsoft not to change there ways so they can fit in as the two big major developers would be the end of them, playstation and xbox is already becoming a platform like steam if they want to win they have to embrace it before they fall too far behind, the old way of gaming is going to die

I look at it like this. If you take the (timed)exclusivity deal, then you don't want my money. So, if, or when your game comes to Xbox, I'll grant your wish and not give you my money. I'm done with this exclusivity nonsense. Sony is too weak to let it go.
