He cares so much about being perceived as a REAL MAN that when the therapist implied that being defiant and not seeing things from others perspectives is a form of weakness, he suddenly agreed to talk. He doesn't care about mending fences with his brothers he just agreed to talk because he didn't want to appear weak by not communicating with them

It was heartbreaking to hear Dame open up about that past experience. As an innocent child, he had to experience his mother passing away and then the only parent left (his father) discards him; on top of that, his only parent shows love to his younger brother and buys him 24 presents while he only gets one present - a book. I don't blame Dash for what he is today, but I respect the success that the "black & white" mentality has given him, the drive to succeed and make it at all costs.

Never saw this show but wish that I had. This one clip clearly explains why Dame comes across so harshly. He's been hurting since he was a child all because his father "A man he looked up to didn't give him the love he needed at a time that would mold him into the man he would become". This clearly demonstrates that, "Children are our future". I feel for the brother and sincerely hope that continues down the path that this breakthrough has opened. God bless you Dame.

This moved me to tears. Kudos to Dame Dash and his brothers for seeking help on this issue. My dad did the same thing.... left 7 of us and raised 5 kids that weren't his. I literally hated my dad because I witnessed my mom hiding tears many times because of the struggle to raise us alone. After I had my child, I decided to forgave myself for the hate in my heart. I was then able to go to my dad and I forgave him too. Congratulations to these brothers for working on, and knocking down these barriers.💪🏽😊

This scene always reminded me of the story of Joseph and his brothers in the Old Testament of the Bible. Jacob favoured Joseph because he was one of only 2 kids he’d had with his second wife, Rachel, whom he’d loved more than his first wife, Leah (whom his father-in-law had tricked him into marrying first). This made Joseph’s older half-brothers hate and resent him, which-combined with his dreams-eventually made them sell Joseph into slavery in Egypt. Parents should know better than to practice that kind of favouritism among their own kids. Even if you can’t help having a soft spot for one of them, you should make a conscious effort to be fair to all of them.

Who would've known how quickly it would've taken them to heal simply by LISTENING to one another's perspectives. Seeing what just happened kinda surprised me because Damon actually wasn't boastful but became more tolerant of his two brothers. Black and white means that things are normally the way one thinks they "should" be but Damon accepted that that's not always gonna be the case. Different people have different attitudes towards different things and this is something that Damon hadn't been willing to accept. There's a lil grey as well, Lol.

I remember after my mom died I went to go live with my dad and that christmas i got 1 gift and it was from my teacher she gave everyone a box of color pencils. I cried so much after going to my uncles house and seeing all of my cousins open up what seemed like 100s of presents. They had so many presents my uncles had to store some in their room bc the tree was so full. Ive gotten cheated on by women in the past and the pain of that will never compare to that xmas. I was mad, sad and felt hopeless like no one cared or loved me. I now help underrepresented students get into college and do science. Im an engineer by trade but a teacher by heart. So i donate most of money to summer science programs for poor kids basically. I know how you feel Dame bc i felt the same in a way. I was mad at the world bc it felt like the world was mad at me but nah sometimes you have to be the light for others and itll light your way too. I was so happy with this breakthrough in is therapeutic session. WOW that was real brave of you Damon. Sometimes unconscious we suppress our hurt and pains from our parents. Then we began to take that anger out on our siblings, due to our parents treatment toward us. Great job. I'm proud of you Damon, and your brothers.

Wow.. 2:25 and that's what made him see clearly on life, and through his eyes as a 10 year old.... He was already dreaming!! And that's why he's **Dame Dash**... And the Fact that he still remember that!!! Really means it broke his heart...

That's fucked up. Now why would a father do that to his child? I don't care what anybody says, if you can't accept my kid then you can't accept me. There is noway that I would have a child, knowing that I'm the only parent that he has left and I turn my back on him and not let my 10 yr old son live with me. Then to sit there as a child and see your sibling open up a lot of gifts for Christmas and all you get is a book is just hurtful. Why not split your money equally and spend the same amount on both kids? As a woman, I wouldn't even want a man that could treat one of his kids that way, even if the child isn't mine. I would have gone out and purchased some toys for him myself before I sat there and allowed that to happen.

Amen! I'm side-eying Jeremy's mom too! If Bobby's mom is alive then Fu€k her too! Jeremy is more concerned about getting blamed for his dad's bs then empathizing with his brother's painful experience. Self center biotch!

I give dameon dash all the credit for listening to the therapist in trying to connect with his family, getting past the hurt of losing aaliyah. The therapist is absolutely 100% right though. Everything is not seen in black and white. Its seen as listening to each other and being able to take in advice and forgive each other to be able to move forward. Now that his brothers understand where dameon dash is coming from and vice versa, they learn how to use what the therapist gave them to rebuild their relationship.

9 times out of 10 when a dude starts a sentence with, “In the street...” The next sentence is about to be self destructive. It’s just how it is. This is not the street, this is family and everybody living well. The point of street principles is to survive - part of surviving it, is outgrowing it. Period.
