The host did a good job of telling you how to prep and paint the headers, but did not mention anything about the curing part which is the most important part. For future Very High Temperature VHT videos, please include an overview of the curing process, how VHT themselves, would cure the headers if they were installed on the car prior to painting, and also if the headers are off of the car prior to painting. Thorough how-to-videos are the best.

That's a GREAT suggestion Joseph!

I used Flameproof primer and paint on my catalytic converters. The primer was white, paint was flat orange. My catalytic converters are striped yellow, orange, yellow, orange, yellow....... I think it REALLY looks cool and should stand out if they are ever stollen. I wanted to let others know this is a possibility on your parts, and also see if there is a reason for it happening. Manufacturer instructions were followed to the T.

Will the flameproof cure properly if I wrap it with header wrap after the paint dries? I'm doing an external wastegate on my subie and was thinking about spraying the uppipe before I wrap it

I just had my headers sand blasted, I bought a can of VHT primer and now I'm not sure if I should use it, or just go with the flameproof. I have way too much invested for it not to work.

Do you have ceramic coating?

I just watched a manufacturer video and all that is SHOWN IS WET MANIFOLDS AND NOT THE RESULT AFTER DRYING OVERNIGHT ! WHO DIRECTS THESE THINGS ??

does the vht flame proof paint do well performance wise. while compared to a traditional ceramic coating. will i see a temp drop on the headers if i use this coating ?
@vhtpaint9 жыл бұрын
jokerwild19 Flameproof resists high temps, but won't insulate the painted parts or change the performance of the header in any way. It's different than a traditional ceramic coating in that it is an aerosol rather than a factory coated finish.

Can i use the flame proof paint to paint a motor? i cant find any engine enamel paint here in europe, but i can get the flame proof. does it make a differance?
@vhtpaint10 жыл бұрын
Nope! FlameProof would be great in your engine!

Wouldnt it be better to sandblast those manifolds?
@vhtpaint9 жыл бұрын
+doacarnage Thank you for your suggestion! You can definitely sandblast the manifolds, but a lot of people don't have access to a sandblaster so that's why we didn't use one in the video.

I expected more from the manufacturer of this paint.

maaaan, i prepped and primed my headers with this stuff, and while it did not burn one bit, the orange paint turned yellow once it cured 😈
