I agree with both of you guys, 100%. I am a lifelong fan of VH (i'm 43), but I have always prefered the Sammy era. I think the songwriting is better.. I think the performances are better..I think the production is better..I think the band is more polished. A way to sum it up would be to say that the Sammy era is a more mature VH. I think that makes sense, as they were older and more experienced. I understand that ppl have preferences and some ppl prefer the DLR era..and that is their opinion. But I think a lot of ppl just have an attachment to the original band and original sound. I think of a lot of that has to do with how innovative they were. The TOTALLY changed the rock game. Not only were songs still just as imporant, but the performance aspect had its bar raised about 10 notches due to Eddie's insane playing. But face it, it was Eddie that made them so innovative. Eddy was still in the band when Sammy was there.... Therefor, VH witih Sammy is instantly better. heheheh.

You cannot "upscale" video to be better than it was shot. In the 80's and 90's, most things were shot on standard definition video tape. If that is how it was shot, that is the best you'll get. If it happened to have been shot on film, like Pink Floyd's "Delicate Sound of Thunder" you can go back to the original film and re-edit. Otherwise, you have what you have.

Sammy brought VH up to another level altogether. They were all on fire. Obviously Eddie's playing was untouchable but so was the groove from Mike and Alex. Add in those vocal harmonies and this was rock at it's finest.

Feb 30 1993 🤣... Lovely. This song will always remember my very last days on college, finishing my studies and being self motivated to keep focused on what I was dreaming for my future. Goosebumps, a bit of tears, very emotional, and an amazing motivational song for whatever you want to achieve. Bless you, Eddie & Sammy.

Alex is such an underrated drummer. I saw Van Halen during their 5150 tour (Alpine Valley, WI)...I was 15 at the time, too young to drive so my parents took me and my best friend. I will never forget that summer, little did I sadly realize just how great Eddie was.

We dont realize just how talented many of the bands we grew up with were and are. At 18, we just couldn't recognize how truly talented our bands were. Look back at most of them when you are 50, and you will hear and see things you never appreciated back then. GOD Bless.
