Virutham is a set of verses or poetry presented normally towards the end of a concert in an impromptu choice of rāgam or rāgamālika usually before a song. They do not possess a set tala structure and are solely improvised using one or more ragams. It is one of many forms of manodharma (spontaneous improvisations) in Carnatic music.
