Oh my! Ive never heard this live! Sounds so good!!! This song is one of my ATFs being that im a woman whos been married fir over 40 years. Thanks Ray. Elvis’ voice is just perfection. They toned him back on his recordings and he sounds like a powerhouse live. One of his songs came on the radio whilst he was driving and he turned around in a mood and went home to his bedroom where he stayed for ages because the song he had recorded had been altered and pulled right back. Read that in his good friend Jerry Schilling’s book. You should watch Jerry tell the story of when Elvis met Nixon. It’s a fab story that will make you smile 💙

Never heard this song. Me and my husband has been married 43 years and we have been down many of gravel roads. He has Alzheimer’s now and I go down that smooth road twice a day to eat with him at the nursing home. Wish we could go down that gravel road just one more time

You always seem the most astonished at Elvis’ Country songs! Love hearing James’ guitar on this live version. I have always preferred an early ‘take’, from the Memphis sessions, over the one they settled on as the single version. This live version sounds more like the outtake I preferred.

So happy to hear a new Story Time With Ray - but you need a little work on the ending, brother! LOL. Was a decision made not to do an episode on the other stories you received? Whatever. Elvis had so much talent, and without a known vocal coach (I think Charlie Hodge gave him some tips), the voice control, the volume control, so many things just seemed instinctive to him. It was in his head, and in his heart, and he was able to make it materialize as required. So few people ever have that ability, making Elvis stand out even more. Thanks for a good one, Ray.

ps: my mom was a screaming teenager for early Elvis, and my uncle, (dad's twin brother) loved "Vegas-era" Elvis so i heard these records a lot. and the live recordings too. twins are special: my cousin and i were raised like sisters. and though my uncle died in his early 50s and my dad is still with us, i think about my Unc every day. i'm the same age as Lisa Marie more or less; between the twin thing, my family's different Elvis phases, and the Elvish sneer i inherited from dad and Unc, well... corazon is the frame of mind here at Vibe. we all have a connection via Elvis that's inexplicable✌🏽

@@cherylspencer8024 Well knowing that Elvis was a Christian at heart I think the answer to that question is if you believe like he did in God then your life will never be without love. But I will also say that human beings even with faith in God do get lonely and do need to not only love but to also feel loved back. So sometimes believing in God is not always as fulfilling, it's not always enough. I think that in his private life, Elvis at times did feel lonely. I think he was plagued at times with a deep feeling of loneliness. Even if you believe in God, it's okay to feel that way. I would like to think that God understands and there is no judgement to that end. My very humble two cents only Miss Cheryl 🙏 Hope all is well with you & yours 🌻💖💕

There were times, IMO, that he had love right in front of him, but he didn't grab on to it for some reason. I do believe he was always looking for someone just like his mother and that is why it was so hard - no one could ever live up to that. I think I heard Lisa Marie say the same thing about a man - she was looking for someone like her Dad. It's just all so sad.
