That is what you call breath control. I met Mr. Damone backstage at Carnegie Hall in the 90s when he did a concert sponsored by a Japanese corporation. He was very gracious and kind to shake hands with me and spend a moment speaking. He spoke of these wonderful songs and I told him they will live forever not to worry. He said thank you very much. Being a singer myself it was an incredible moment to shake hands with such an icon. Take care Vic.

Vic Damone's voice was so beautiful. It gave you intense pleasure! He was really physically beautiful also! Even Sinatra said so. "God, Vic, you are so good looking..." (quoted by Damone himself in his memoir "Singing Was The Easy Part."). I sing myself and wrote him a sincere letter to Palm Beach telling him how much I loved his singing. He wrote back, sent a CD of his earlier hits and a signed 8x10 autographed picture inscribed:. "Tony, Keep Aiming High!". I loved several of his albums, including "That Damone Thing"! His fourth (?) wife Diahann Carroll was amused by his dazzling good looks. She remarked ..."And what a peacock (he was)! He used to LOVE walking red carpets...". So many people today must be so sad to lose him! Rest in Peace, Vic. He recorded "Maria" from West Side Story TWICE. (First in mono and later in stereo.). The mono version is the better with that marvelous little florid trill/ turn at the end! I loved him so much!

I wish they would re-release all of Vic's albums from the 70's-80's on CD. The songwriter's best friend. I will never understand why he never got his due except of course, for those in the know--us.

In my opinion the best male vocal of that time, smoothe clean- Style, complete Talent. Very underrated - this is a fabulous arrangement and the band is phenomenal, but they're Dynamics are poor- too loud, overshooting the singer. 🎶😘😇💜
