Scott I forgot to mention you didn't appear to have a snake bite kit or a fee descent compression bandages that could go up and down one limb... at this time of year that would be a key item that i would take in!

Nice set up mate. I have a near identical rifle scope package but in 270. Keep up the great vids. Great to see another Perth guy getting out there.

I agree with FlyerOneFPV the background music is really distracting and it makes it hard to hear your useful content!

What model is the Garmin and what is its function (SatPhone, GPS, and ..?)? Do you recommend a particular compass and map backup, battery re-charger solution? Your 1st Aid kit looks first rate. Do you sleep out, what do you prefer: hammock, or a nylon tarp? What glass do you use fer spotting 'stuff'?
@crazyfishhuntfilms71846 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, The Garmin I'm using is a Garmin InReach Explorer. Whilst it functions as a GPS with preloaded topo maps (note that the maps are Delorme ... not Garmin) it also has an SOS function or personal locating beacon. Also has the ability to send and receive text and email messages and these can be set up on a month by month plan, prepaid, therefore only needs o pay for when you want to use it. Works of the iridium satellite network. Can get regular weather updates also. If you hunt with a buddy and he has one, you can see his GPS location when he sends you a message if you need to track each others whereabouts. Is a great gadget - explore.garmin.com/en-AU/inreach/ I did have a compass but never used it however if anything happened to my GPS I certainly would of had to have used it. Is a Silva field compass - www.kathmandu.com.au/silva-field-ms-compass.html? I would recommend using a waterproof paper map. Whilst I didn't take this our hunting with me, it was very useful for studying contours and catchments and used a lot to plan my hunt prior to and whilst I was away. Can pick these up at most outdoor camping shops. I got mine at a BCF outlet. My power bank used for charging my devices was AWESOME. Is a Cygnett 27000mAH. It kept my GPS, headlamp and 3 Cameras charged up for 10 days straight without requiring a recharge. I did buy a protective case for it from an army surplus shop. Got the charger from JB HIFI - www.jbhifi.com.au/cygnett/cygnett-chargeup-pro-27000mah-power-bank/342076/ I alos had a Goal Zero Nomad 7 solar panel however never needed to use it and in hindsight probably didn't need to purchase it, but it would be great for long extended trips - www.wildearth.com.au As far as sleeping goes, a lot depends on the time of year and climate however generally if it was only two nights and little chance of rain, I would simply use a tarp, roll matt and good quality sleeping bag (with or without liner). For extended bush stays I take a Vango Banshee 2 man hiking tent. Super lightweight and just enough room for me (am 6 foot). Never been a fan of hammocks and a tarp is more versatile For glassing, I use a really good pair of Binoculars as can't see the point of lugging around both spotting scope and bins. I do however take a tripod as fatigue sets in whilst holding your arms up to your face for a long time. I have a couple of pairs, a Leupold 10x42 and a set of GPO 10x50. The leupolds I tend to use more for close quarters bush and are strapped to my chest most of the time in a S4 Performance Gear harness. The GPO's are bigger but better for being in the pack if glassing is on the cards. - gp-optics.com/products/product-groups/binoculars/passion-hd/ Hope this answers your questions, and more than happy to answer anything else should it come to mind Thanks for watching Crazy Fish Hunt Films www.huntfishgrow.com.au

Great vid but can the music next time. Also how are you carrying it all in and what about food and cook kit?
@crazyfishhuntfilms71845 жыл бұрын
flash gordon thanks bud. Didn’t quite get the volume mix right on this one! Everything fit into a 60 litre extendable pack although I did ditch a couple of items. We set up a base camp where we stored most stuff and day pack hunted from there. Mainly back country meals built up with venison and a jetboil which I got when I landed in Melbourne.

What’s your opinion on the sleeping bag in hindsight?

Content was good but that background music was so distracting. I know everyone's doing it but geez it's annoying, and I look forward to the day it's no longer popular. Less can still be more. I'm subbed and liked your other hunting videos.
@crazyfishhuntfilms71846 жыл бұрын
FlyerOneFPV thanks for your feedback bud...I know everyone has a slightly different feel for how these types of things can be put together, glad you liked the content and other vids though mate. Cheers

Hey mate, cheers for the video. I'm originally from Vic but have been in WA for 10 years. heading back for a hunting trip April next year. was it easy enough to take ur gun and gear on the plane? and all good buying ammo with our shit paper licence?
@crazyfishhuntfilms71845 жыл бұрын
Mathew Beale Hi Mathew. Few trips I have done I have always flown with Virgin and have never had an issue at all. I took Ammo over as well as bought it in VIC. Just make sure you take a copy of both the paper license and the WAPOL Card that gets issued with it. I bought a hard case to travel with the rifles as heard to many horror stories of guys getting their rifles damaged by being in soft bags. Packed the Ammo in a lock box and put in checked in luggage. Just be sure that when you get to the airport, you grab one of the ground staff at check in as there is some additional paperwork and check in docs that they will issue. Everything goes in and out the oversize baggage counter and does not get handled by a series of baggage handlers. The guys you give it to at the counter are the ones that put it on the plane. Same at other end. Bought back antlers and meat also. Meat sealed in vac bags in an esky with sealed ice block and duct taped up and antlers in an additional seperate suitcase that I bought prior to check in from Kmart. Guys have strapped them to their packs and have them shrink wrapped at the airport using the shrink wrap service at Melbourne (international terminal) but if you have time, just buy another cheap one. Look fwd to hearing about your trip!! Scott.

Cheers heaps for the reply mate! so you literally just walk straight into the airport with your rifle and drop it into the over size baggage?? sounds easier than I thought it would be! have you chased any deer down south?? I've been trying for ages to sort out a property but with no luck. Have you got insta or Facebook??
@crazyfishhuntfilms71845 жыл бұрын
Mathew Beale is a lot easier than I thought too. Was very surprised. Trying to find land to shoot on here in WA is super hard. I’ve been fortunate enough to go out with a friend who has access to 40k hectares up near Westonia but for Roos and foxes mainly. Another hunting buddy has got into a place down south chasing reds through his ADA membership but nothing productive as yet. Is pretty much a closed shop here in the west unfortunately. Ps - sent you Facebook request too 👍
