I met Vic personally at a con many years ago. I remember I was cosplaying and I was going through a hard time in my life and when I saw him in the hallway I asked him for a hug. He happily obliged and even complimented my cosplay. I was thrilled since it was my first time cosplaying and definitely nervous. I later went to his Easter Day panel after emailing him (I have emailed him several times) and he recorded a message for my Grandmother that I still have. He then offered me a hug after recording the video message since I started crying. All these things were interactions that I either initiated or consented to and he was kind enough to oblige. Everything from fans I’ve seen from KickVic has been a result of fan requests like mine. I can’t say anything about Rial’s experiences or other voice actors, but I find it hard to believe that he should be crucified for reciting character lines upon request. Could he say other Tamaki Suou lines? Yes, of course. But the coffee line made an impression on him when he first recorded it and he’s been asked to say it so often by this point I believe it’s the only one he has memorized and so it’s what his brain instantly jumps to when he needs a Tamaki line (just like how his brain instantly jumps to “Who are you calling a pipsqueak midget?!?” when he’s asked for a short rant from Ed). Just my 2 cents. I admit I’ve not closely followed it in a while but until anything is proven in a court of law I’m willing to give him some benefit of the doubt.
@omegaman2554 жыл бұрын
I met him last year at a con soon after he got a lawyer. Nervous out my mind as I got him to sign some piece I had. And the moment I got before him, I realized something. He's just the kind of man who radiates love. And I don't mean "love" as in a sexual desire, I mean "love" as in an overall feeling of warmth and kindness to everyone he meets. I walked away with the biggest smile on my face, completely forgetting that I had a question I wanted to ask him. In the few minutes I had spent with him on the floor, I had felt my posture relax and a smile stuck to my face that wouldn't leave for hours afterwards. That there are those out there who want to see this man gone makes me angry. Almost blindingly so. This man is a treasure to the anime community, and a role model for how a VA should behave with his fans. (notable exceptions aside of course) I hope to see him again, so I can thank him again for all that he does.

How he is in person does not excuse his personal behaviors. People need to realize that. The “I met him” defense is objectively invalid. I met Jamie Marchi and Chris Sabat last year, and they were incredibly pleasant to me. But would people who blindly hate them accept that as an excuse? I doubt it. I like Vic, Rohan Kishibe is one of my favorite anime characters. But he’s not exactly doing himself many favors to try and prove his innocence. Especially when he went 0-17 in his defamation case and has opted not to pursue any other legal actions.

I met vic mignogna at a convention over 10 years ago. I cannot say that's how he is with his fans is who he is all the time or how he is around other women, but vic mignogna is just about the warmest man I have ever met. He was just chilling in the dealer's room (surrounded by no one) and I explained that I've always felt like outcast due to my love for anime. I told him that I loved his work and I was excited to meet him. He told me that he loved having me as a fan and that I should always be proud of who I am. I was 15 years old at time and he did hug me and kiss me on the cheek without me explicitly asking for one, but the atmosphere very much felt fatherly and I'd say I very much gave him nonverbal consent. That does not invalidate monica's experiences or that her allegations are not real, I am just saying that vic is a very affectionate person, who's skinship may be perceived as harassment when in fact his behavior could be completely innocent.

Hey dude, I legit want to run some impressions I had by you about this case, because I’m not a lawyer but I’ve had to represent myself pro se and get familiar with the law. With his defamation suit, isn’t it going to be incredibly difficult for him to prove his case? I thought I heard somewhere that even though the standard is based on a preponderance of the evidence, courts still refrain from siding with plaintiffs due to the fear of encroaching the defendant’s first amendment rights. So with defamation suits, you’d have to prove a sort of mens rea where the defendant intentionally spread lies that inflicted monetary damage as a direct result. Is this accurate? Also, why not write something on social media? I get that it could be used as evidence in court, but why is it so taboo? What are lawyers afraid of?

All I can say about this situation is that, while I’m not taking either side and I’ve been rather silent about it, one thing we can mutually agree on is that the whole situation is extremely flaky and has been going on for well over a year now. It has just about totally destroyed a once humble community and has set the bar to an all time low. I’m not saying that I’m on Vic’s side, nor do I believe everything that I hear from accusers, but I remain very cynical about the whole situation. To sum up my feelings about the whole thing, I can’t help but echo the words of Trey Gowdy almost verbatim,”We’ve seen the bias. We need to see the evidence. If there is any that proves any wrongdoing, or inappropriate conduct present it to the damn grand jury. Whatever you have going on, finish it the hell up. Because this community is being torn apart.”

I didn't know anything about Vic because I hate the elitism that comes with the knowledge of anime and the nerd community in general. So I had no dog in the fight. From my perspective its a simple matter of cancel culture and has nothing to do with victims. If you are a victim of a crime tweeting it on twitter does nothing for your case if you have no evidence unless the matter is sexual assault or sexual harassment. So if the 'victim' just screams it loud enough we are all supposed to believe them seems like a seriously dangerous narrative to follow. If they wanted to address the situation like an adult they would have evidence and would have gone to court, but because that's not the case they instead have been found lying time and again. Vic chating isn't a crime, but making claims that causes someone's career to end when they are not provable (one way or the other) seems like Defamation, Libel, and Slander. I hope Vic wins to set a standard in modern society that this isn't ok. It has little to do with being a fan and more to do with how you should be going to court instead of shouting in a public square. The entire history points to a number of people who work with Vic and dislike him in closed doors. Rumors to destroy someone, but nothing substantial and the ones that are investigated are proven false. Seems fairly cut and dry.

You're right that the truth is what's most important, but those who were trying to destroy him completely were utterly insane people. Heck, they even talked about doctoring evidence so it shows how demented they are. I've seen multiple videos of him with fans at conventions and they had a good time. He wasn't abusing or harassing them, nor were they screaming or being hostile. It was all consented. Vic's so good that those who envied his fame and popularity wanted him gone from the industry. (Edward and Tamaki were my favorite characters at the time. To this day his voice is still my favorite dub.) He was very kind and patient with me as I asked for an autograph and wasn't sure about getting a photo because I didn't pay for it, but I think he took one with me anyway. (I'd have to find the photo.) I just remember the interaction being the greatest thing ever. Is it sad to hear he cheated on his fiancé? Yes. Really sad, but almost not surprising given how people are. Idk. I know you don't really know people or celebrities. Maybe he did or did not have ill intentions or did bad things. Of course, I come at this with a bias towards Vic being innocent, but it really is a simple search for the truth. The only reason people get defensive is when evidence-less claims are brought up and a man is ruined because of here-say. It really is a tragedy we live in.

We all have done shitty things, often times without realizing, in states of high emotion or perhaps even selfish intent. The important thing here is that the degree and severity of these things can certainly be over blown and charged with emotion and mob mentality. Regardless of how severe the crime, you must be willing to understand your own capacity for evil so that you may be able to look close enough into injustice and tragedy to address the core issue. When we don't do this we tend to create an 'other' where we may mutilate the image words or intent of a person or group to almost attempt to purge and reject whatever facet of the human shadow is being revealed. This reactivity leaves no room for critical thought or conscious engagement. Rather, it sets precedent of being quite closed off, fueled by that unconscious fear of potential within yourself that, sometimes, due to the messiness of human life is acted out or embodied by people we know, see or hear about. The answer is not to harass, threaten, or lynch through ritual mob mentality, somehow using harm or death to justify the harming or taking of life. We must exercise compassion and forgiveness if we are to see through the haze of reactive emotion and impulsive action and actually address the systemic psychological, sociological and cultural trauma carried unconsciously through countless generations and resulting in unimaginable suffering and injustice. Lets try to tame the reactions from that animal within us. While we may be intelligent thinking feeling creative creatures, the foundation of that was formed upon the chemistry of survival, which is so inflamed by the hypnotic melodrama of collective fear pain and anger. Stop puking your pain onto one another, your only succeeding in making each other sick. For those who don't want conflict, be very mindful of how you engage that you see any other as a human first and as fundamentally the same as you. The child that you were is still there like the rings of a tree, as it is for them. Everyone does the best they can with the information and circumstances they have. For those who are out for blood, I sincerely wish for you peace and joyful living now and especially whenever you decide you are ready to surrender all that hate and rage and heal whatever it is within that hurts you so.

Oh and in case of you schmucks chime in on this one; Daman was sending his victim a cease and desist when the case broke out until the victim eventually retracted their claim against him. If Daman was innocent, why was he doing that and the victim retracted their statement the way they did? Why were his colleagues covering for him and trying to downplay the whole situation in the media? And yet we’re all supposed to believe the alleged stuff about Vic even though they’ve all been debunked or nobody’s been able to locate the source while we’re expected to just overlook the dirt on Sean, Daman and all the other individuals on the KickVic side. I just absolutely hate how social media has the capability to destroy someone’s career in an instant based off of accusations and not real evidence. It’s been happening so much lately that it seems that people who have any kind of platform have to behave a certain way or else they’ll get canceled for the smallest flaws or things that have happened in the past. There is a line of course with people like Shane Dawson who have has had so much hard evidence against him, but this scandal with Vic just seems kind sloppy. Lots of fraud and people who seem to just want to ruin his career for the sake of being petty. It’s just so sad. It’s human nature to make mistakes every now and then and to expect perfection out of anyone is illogical. Everyone has dirt but once it’s exposed online it becomes something so much more. I’m hoping these women are being truthful at least and not over exaggerating his behavior. I can’t be on a side cause I’m just learning about all of it but one thing I do want to say is that the internet is ruthless. If we didn’t have social media this kind of stuff wouldn’t be happening. What would Hollywood trash like Rooster Teeth know about anime?

Its none of our business what is going on in Vic’s relationships! Its same for Monica and Sean! Regardless of what happens we should respect and love everyone and their success even if it has been called out! We have gone so far off that we have to ruin someone’s reputation!

Decent video but I disagree with your conclusion at the end as I don't think it's fair to compare the people who stand on either side that way. The biggest players on the #kickvic side have done nothing but make accusations with no evidence where the biggest players on the #istandwithvic side have continually stated there is no evidence show us the evidence. The group you're saying would believe Vic unconditionally is a minority. There are many crazy statements that have been made by the big players on the #kickvic side that you didn't mention. As far as I know there have been no crazy statements made by the big players on the #istandwithvic side

Yeah, a lot of people on the #IStandWithVIc side are really just Team Due Process and No Witch Hunts.

#istandwithvic has also made it a point to actually investigate and not doctor evidence.

This really is one of if not the best video that has talked about this whole scandal. There aren't many people who can talk about both sides unbiasedly, and that's amazing. Especially considering all the toxicity that came from this scandal.

Well if Vic is proven as innocent now, why there is no "KickMonica" tag around? Sometimes I really think Zamasu did nothing wrong.

Thanks for this video. I know I'll never get closure from this series of events, but it gives me some peace of mind when you say to believe the evidence and not the fans on either side.

2:41 Wasn't this the picture where kickvic blurred her face and said she was being attacked? She came out almost the next day saying they were full of shit. Edit: Commented too early, you covered it.

So a few months ago I was recommended to watch FMA and FMAB by one of my friends after I finished the exact person that told me to watch it said that he was a pedophile, no evidence she just acted as it was the truth, I finally wanted to know more, since I was on the fence on the whole topic, I'm glad you made this video with sources and went out your way to call a police department for verification, I'm almost certain I wouldn't be able to see the bigger picture without this, thank you.

I miss Vic when he played Vishnal in Rune Factory 4. The new guy who voices Vishnal is okay but it's not the same 🥺

I have a very unpopular view on monogamy but I will acknowledge that because Vic and Michelle had agreed to a monogamous relationship, it wasn't exactly cool for Vic to break that agreement. It's a trust thing. At the same time I feel that sleeping with people besides your significant other is a human thing not an inherently bad or wrong thing. So quite honestly hat's not something I can call Vic out for with any conviction due to my perspective. I always give accusers the benefit of the doubt but after all the blatant lies it's really hard to believe that their might be truth to any of the allegations. I still try to remember that there could be something there but honestly my heart is not in it. It should not be possible to ruin a person's career with allegations alone. This was a very good video.

Man, I wish I'd found this video a while ago. Most of the info that I've followed for this situation has come largely from the ISWV side, mostly because the ones I've watched have been drawing directly from the source of what's happening. And while I appreciate having that knowledge, it comes from a... _passionately biased_ place, that can be 'unkind' in regards to those they are biased against (and I imagine that were I to watch people talking about things on the KV side, it would likely be much of the same, just in the opposite direction). As someone who's tried his best to keep a calm head and not treat either side as guilty before making sure to look at everything, I really appreciate this video.
