Jazzguts Victor what are thinking at 2:48? What scale/mode? It's over the G 7/13 but seems like there's some whole tone in there? Also at 2:53 are you thinking D flat melodic minor over the G flat #11 chord?
@JazzgutsVGvanKampen9 жыл бұрын
James Anderson I'm playing inversions of the triads G and A, the A triad against G7 gives a great effect, analyze against G7 you'll get A= 9 C#= #11 E= 13 so the chord could be extended to G13#11, great sound.
@jazzerson70879 жыл бұрын
Jazzguts Didn't know that, thankyou! Could you give me the exact notes you play over the G7 chord in that instance though, this would really help!
@jazzerson70879 жыл бұрын
Jazzguts Any chance you could give me the exact notes you play over the G7 chord in that instance, this would really help me in developing my playing to see what exactly you've done here. Not sure what the inversions you mentioned are and in what order you play them.

Thanks Pablo, isn't it fantastic we have the possibility to see,listen and judge each others work,getting such positive critique from a great player like yourself is very motivating for me, I guess "The Girl" is a kind of National Anthem in Brazil and people rather go for something different, however let's not forget Jobim for his very fine compositions that are really worthwhile playing for their good harmonic and melodic possibilities,greets Vic.

Hi Greenlentils, you're right in your explanation,and I have no trouble that good jazz is used as background music, when the good listener is sitting in the lounge his ear detects many facets that tickles the mind while others keep on chatting and the little Music Pearls are lost for them, greets Vic.

You're absolutely right. Jobim is very big here. All the more so in this particular year, when they're celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first bossanova recording. There've been shows, books and new CDs all through the year. Of course, Jobim's legacy is right at the centre of it. I myself have been busy writing bossanova arrangements for a quartet, and most of the tunes are by him.
