It was genuinely the happiest days of my life close friends all just met and becoming closer. It was a lot of fun no doubt. I remember her asking me charlie how are u so happy all the time. It caught me off guard we just left the beach heading back to hang at her place. I couldnt understand what there wasnt to be happy about in those days. Well she took her life after awhile. She was a beautiful girl Who never figured out how to live. It really crazy how deep mental health can run.

The ending 🤣Have always enjoyed Stefan's skate parts, his energy and enthusiasm, and his one of kind laid back style. How epic is it to be like, "I skate with Guy Mariano." Feels like a dream, and his story seems almost too good to be true. One critique is that despite not seeing darker sides of people, does not mean that they don't exist, and that it is normal to go through depression or addiction often linked to trauma. I understand that this is not what is being directly stated, however it made me feel that because people have not seen Stefan go through these areas, this slightly insinuates that if you can be a human that does not go through depression or addiction, you are on another level than other humans and this may explain your "success." My last thought; growing up in skateboard culture at a young age and watching Epicly later'd "later" in life has been pure joy to break through what is behind the lives of our favorite skateboarders and to peer inside the skateboard world beyond skate parts. Hugely appreciate the work of Patrick O'Dell and those that have brought these stories to life.

I say this all the time. I think skateboarding may be one, if not the hardest sport on the planet. I got into skateboarding at like 5 years old when the x games started. Started skating, snowboarding, and bmxing/mtb dirt jumping, which I honestly chose over skating only because I'm way better with bikes. Like I can ride a skateboard... But I can't do all the things on one like I see in my mind like i can with bikes. It takes too much effort and ability 😂

Still have the pair of Janoski's that I bought when I was 17, I'm almost 27 now. I worked at a Nike store for my first job, we got some blue on white Janoski's in and I immediately loved them, got my discount and paid like $40 for them, insane nowadays. Have been a staple of mine the whole time. Starting to get a bit worn but I'll wear them till they fall apart, and then ill fix them and keep wearing them. Such a simple shoe that works with any outfit for almost any occasion, still comfy as hell all these years later, feels like I'm not wearing a shoe because I'm so used to them. Had a kid I worked with a couple years ago say, "dude are those Janoski's?" and I said hell yeah they are, I've had them since you were in elementary school lol. Had no idea who Stefan was when I bought them, just knew he was a skater but that's it, now I know he is a pretty fucking cool dude.

Something about learning these sports at a young age vs later, is skaters, skiers, snowboarders, know how to fall mid air. That instinctual feeling only comes if you started at a certain point in your life. The flow of your body in air is something I still feel to this day, and something that doesn’t make sense for a lot of people.

And that's why Stefan's shoe is the best to skate in, he actually designed it. I have had Prod's, too. I had his "Mexicans" and some P-Rod 3's I think (I still have those, the Mexicans got ruined, as I put them in the washer, and stagnant water got caught in the zoom sole. Anyone who's washed Nike Airs knows this, they end up smelling like cat pee) and while I love those shoes, too (for their aesthetics, he had some amazing quick and hyper strikes) The Janoski's are just like the dream skating shoe. I used to skate Vans Waffle soles, when I first started, because I found a pair on sale (I had to save up and buy my own stuff for skating) but everyone wore DC's, it was like a fashion thing. So I got some DC's on sale, the next year maybe, and I couldn't skate in them. It felt like I was skating in stilts. The Janoski's are the first shoe that I've skated, that actually feels like the waffle sole for board feel, but they have the comfort of a nike shoe. They're perfect. I think I've had 4 x pairs of Janoski's, I sold 2 x after they blew up, but I still have 2 x pairs for Skating, 1 x canvas and 1 x Leather.
