my dad began training me at 4 years old and shared his belief that "all children" should learn gun safety and become proficient with guns. my sister and brother had this upbringing as well. Now 60 years later all of our children and grandchildren have experienced a similar education. not all of us share the same passion, but all of us have the appropriate knowledge and respect for firearms. Miss Autumn, your Parents are Absolutely Awesome.... thanks...👍

I was 7 the first time I shot, I was 8 when I started shooting by myself and being trained. Thankfully my grandfather was a competitive shooter, invitational pistol matches, international competitions, shooting teams, etc and my father was also a competitive pistol shooter, though he didn't compete nearly as much as his dad. I got a good foundation and started taking my own rifle on hunts as soon as I could carry it myself the whole time, about 11 years old.

0:23 I live in Texas....... I know MANY families like this. I mean we don’t do the whole social media part but we train children in the proper/safe/respectful gun handling rules/protocols. I am 33 years old and have been handling guns practically my entire life. I first started learning about and shooting guns when I was 4. My family is VERY STRICT about gun safety and respecting guns for what they can do. So I was taught gun safety for at least a year before I was even allowed to handle a loaded gun or fire it. We have passed down our gun knowledge and discipline for generations.

God bless Texas! One of the most free states in the union. Abbott 2028!! My parents weren't as strict. However when I was 10, 2 men tried to kick in the front door while I was home alone. When I pointed my mom's 38 special at them, they left. It was loaded, and I was willing & ready to shoot. I did not shoot because I didn't want to kill anyone, I just wanted them to go away. Thankfully this did not happen in CA, IL, or NY because I would still be in jail, and so would my mom. My early training with guns instilled confidence in me so that I knew that I could stop them, but was reserved enough to not shoot unless absolutely necessary. Tiger grew up with golf balls, and Autumn is growing up with guns. Just imagine where she will be in 10 years. I imagine she will make the Tomb Raider look like an amateur.

This would be no different than the public school system omitting much of American history or applying a political message to every aspect of every subject that is studied. My daughter is also very skilled with guns compared with most at her age, but we are very limited with how difficult it is to own guns and specially handguns in our country. I'm right on the same page with this girl's parents. What a lucky kid. What they're actually doing is raising a confident well rounded responsible strong young American woman. Some pretty important life skills, i.e. discipline, responsibility, respect, confidence, following directions, being able to discern the difference between what is real and fantasy, what can be truly dangerous and what isn't... There's a lot to learn from being mentored in firearm safety and shooting skills starting well before the age of, say, 16 when kids start to think they already know everything and grownups are just stupid. When my 3 girls were between 5 and 9 we started taking milk crates of old bowling pins to the range at least a couple times a month. Admittedly, I got a kick out of watching how sharp my 3 little girls were getting to be out to 200 yards with the .22, SKS, and AR and on the pistol range with up to .45APC, especially when there would get to be 2 then 10 then 20 adults just standing behind us watching these little girls trying to outshoot each other and how well they handled themselves and firearms. It may have been a small relatively trivial aspect of their childhood as far as they were concerned, but I don’t think inconsequential. By the time they were 12 they were pretty good drivers too. I made sure they knew how to fight. The oldest took the taekwondo nationals at 16. I was trying to raise capable young women who were anything but superficial. Let’s face it. A great looking bimbo isn’t interesting for long. Anyway, they became teens way too fast and at that age they just want to be around their friends and get away from parents and authority figures. It doesn't dawn on them that they don't actually have everything already figured out. There's group pressure, stupid kids doing stupid stuff, goofing around, trying to impress one another, risk taking behavior. They’re almost oblivious to their own vulnerability or how grave the consequences of major idiocy can get. Things like beer and weed are one thing, hell, most of us did that at some point, but when things like cars, drunk driving, hard drugs, and guns come into the mix... let’s just say I wanted to make sure my girls understood the difference between having a good time and being in the vicinity of death wish level stupidity. I went to sleep at night believing they implicitly understood things like the difference between a toy or video game from a real gun and bullets, weed from meth and heroin, a buzz from shitfaced, that they would not be coerced or bullied, and that they had enough savvy to steer themselves or each other clear of any real bad stuff. All this was years ago. They’re all 3 grown up with their own families now. The oldest is a neonatologist. The second was a Coast Guard rescue swimmer before enrolling at Embry Riddle and becoming an airline pilot. The third is a general surgeon. I’m sure you can tell that I’m pleased with the outcome. I’ll just leave you with this. Teaching my children respect for and how to handle firearms was a part of my personal child rearing strategy. Just like martial arts, when taught properly and for the right reasons it can be empowering and build character, self-esteem and self-confidence in a young person, boy or girl. Hell, I was riding my stingray bicycle with my 20 gage single shotgun over my shoulder going pheasant hunting almost every morning before school all by myself by the time I was 9. It was a glorious time and probably didn't hurt when 10 years later it was an M16 and USMC tattooed on my shoulder. The shooting experience is actually something our kids deserve to have. It’s a part of their heritage and their right as an American if it suits them. So, kudos to Autumn and her parents. These days, unlike much of the country, it looks like they're doing well by their child and preparing her for life in a world that’s definitely going to be changing and not necessarily for the better.

Don't mind the haters and their ignorance or fear of raising their children right. It's so important to not only educate them, but also teach them real life skills, responsibility, accountability, and discipline! She is brilliant and mature beyond her years. Two of my kids are college grads who are now teachers, and my daughter has about a year to go before graduating with a music degree; but spend any time on a college campus and listen to the students speak, to each other, with their professors, or even in public speaking. It's horrific! They sound so stupid it's embarrassing. Every other word is "like" or "um", they don't think before they speak, they must repeat a question before or when answering it, and they just don't know how to socialize in the real world (like, in person and not via text or social media). The difference between them and this ten year old is remarkable. She's definitely going places! Congrats on being real parents, and I'm sure she greatly appreciates it!

I don't have a problem per se with kids shooting guns, but there's a couple things to always keep in mind and exercise caution about: 1) Kids can have excellent technical skills but they often lack wisdom and prudence. Parents are often overconfident in their children's decision making skills because the kid is obviously intelligent but smarts can't replace experience. 2) Because of point #1, kids take risks and do stupid things when the adults aren't looking. That's the nature of being a kid. When you're playing with waterguns then taking weird risks is not a problem, but with real guns it is dangerous. I guess the point is that parents should not become lax about supervision.
@kiranfemboy Жыл бұрын

I was 7 when my father bought me a Ruger 10/22 (back in the 80's). What a lot of kids are lacking, these days, is a healthy fear of consequences. I knew that if I even opened the gun cabinet without my father's permission, I'd get my ass beat. But kids that are taught proper handling and safety usually don't go on to do stupid things with guns. I played with toy guns up until I got the rifle. After that, I learned guns aren't toys and can be dangerous. Now? I own several rifles and built my AR-15 from a box of parts (NYS legal lower). I'm a 47 year old liberal woman.

I commend her parents on teaching her the proper way to handle a gun and I think she’s absolutely awesome.

Parents fully supporting what their kid loves , love to see it. She seems very well spoken and capable ,more so than 99% of kids her age.

Yeah, and they all share the video to try and "trigger the libs." No way children are her target audience.

I,d be willing to bet she is smart as heck in all her class subjects, too. And any class she may struggle in, she probably goes at the subject until she gets it! The guns are actually secondary, they are a great family first! This is awesome.🙂👍👍👍
