As someone who lives in NY and was a part of this community for years, I realized that a lot of this is clout chasing and hype or an underlying desire to be recognized for doing dumb stuff. I stopped going to all the meets because most have died, lots of these kids don't even know why they are into cars. I just go to cars and coffee in PA or some events in CT way better and with real enthusiasts. The NYC car scene is just cringe. Also lots of these people have never gotten real driving lessons and are literally battling death everyday by driving recklessly.

Sounds exactly right. All car enthusiasts I know don’t weave in and out of traffic during rush hour, cover their cars in stickers that have their Instagram handle, or not even know what their “sponsors” did to their engine. Most that I have met are not yelling 24/7. The only people I know that do those things are Instagram clout chasers. I live in a part of the country where the majority of car culture around here is classic cars, and there is a small subset of tuner culture, but nothing like that shitshow like what’s in the video. A lot of the organizers of the car meets around here put a lot of effort to making these events a safe place to enjoy cars, where you won’t get run down by a stray mustang, or beemer in this video. Which makes the meets so much more relaxed and enjoyable.

Unfortunately in NYC, you don't have to be good to have a successful business. Recently got my windows tinted, and they did a shit job despite being a legit tinting place. They were packed, and get constant business. There's just too much demand, not enough supply. It's not like a small town where reputation matters. Half the shops here don't have an online presence and change their name every couple of months.

At 03:57 there's a Delta Integrale though. The kind of car only a true car guy would put there.

Would u cringe if it was 1950/60s NYC? Ever since cars were invented young dudes have done this exact same thing, in every city everywhere..why judge them for passions that have been the same for generations. They're better than others their age doing worse things or nothing at all with their life.
