There's something so incredibly satsifying seeing the song you know come together and all the processes broken down and the personalities of all the artists also revealed. This one in particular is great cause she seems just as uplifting as the song.

I don't have TikTok so I didn't know the song re-blown up last year. For me, it's just a song that still lives on continuously from where it started in the 2000s. A local radio station that I listen to still play the song regularly along with other iconic songs of the 2000s, and I catch it at least once every few weeks. For me, the song never left.

How can kids graduate from kindergarten?! What examinations do they need to pass to do so?! Are those who don't achieve a particular percentage in a test held back an additional year, or are they simply banned from the graduation ceremony?!
@maryhatleymeyer
@maryhatleymeyer 2 жыл бұрын
@@andrewjones575 yes, there are so many opportunities to celebrate every accomplishment or rite of passage these days. He also had a preschool graduation and eighth grade graduation, before his high school graduation. And there were so many trophies for participating in each sport, each year. I get it. As for passing kindergarten, it generally has to do with whether the teacher and parents feel the child is mature enough socially and developmentally to move forward to first grade, which requires more self discipline and structure. Anyways, I love the song! Hearing little kids singing about their future was kinda inspiring to all. 🤗

@@andrewjones575 graduation is acknowledgement of moving onto something bigger and better. The diploma or degree is just one part of the greater ritual. Moving from kindergarten where it's all fun to real grade school where actual grades start is similar to preschool graduation since many kids don't go to preschool. It's a symbol of entering grade school for real, as 8th grade grad is to high school and high school grad is to college or the work force. A piece of paper isn't the point. It only is to people who don't understand the value in life's experiences rather than just material possessions and what-not. It's not as black and white as just a piece of paper.

I met her when I was 17 and randomly ended up interning at NYFW (at the time where she was HUGELY popular/in the spotlight)- no exaggeration the kindest famous person I’ve ever interacted with, took the time to interact with and chat to me as I literally boxed up her clothes and she even politely told someone off when they tried to interrupt/act like it wasn’t worth it to speak to me. 😂 It’s my fave party story to tell people (especially when the song comes on) and I think all the time abt how genuinely encouraging and sweet she was to this random teenager she knew she’d definitely didn’t have to be so nice to/wouldn’t ever see again 🥰

You speak about the "young people" and Gen Z and Millennials... Honey ... This song transcends age... It reaches the soul of people and the soul is eternal. We don't know the lines of our own story so it seems unwritten... According to Psalm 139... It was all written before time so your lyrics speak to the infinity of existence. They are boundless and speak to the zenith within us all. Thank you for the poetry of life and your amazing vocals. What gifts you were given!!!!!

I remember being blown away when I unexpectedly heard this on the radio after I finished my basic training in the Korean army and was about to be stationed in my assigned unit (it must have been May 2006). I had listened to some of her songs after "These Words" became a hit in Europe, and "Unwritten" ended up getting a lot of rotation in my personal playlists. As far as I knew, however, it was just an album track I liked from an artist who was unknown outside of Europe. So imagine my surprise when I heard it on the radio in Korea after five weeks of training without much contact with the outside world. I still remember how uplifting it was to hear it.

The lyrics were so on point for this song! I love the "choir" part. I had no idea it was just her, her sister and another friend. Thanks VICE for this video. Very cool to know the background of this!

She’s actually born and raised in London. Her parents and oldest brother are from New Zealand. Growing up she visited New Zealand often and has always called herself a “New Zealander” because that’s what heritage she feels she relates most with.

I have been a college professor teaching local and foreign literature since 2016 at a Catholic university. At the end of every semester, just before the final exams week, I always show the music video of Unwritten, the climbing book version, to my literature class. And I just let my students realize that we started as unwritten books, and day by day, we "write contents" in our lives. And just like the book at the end of the music video when its pages were scattered all over the place, we, as a generation, will leave our legacy to future generations as they learn from our experiences. This song has been very relevant, at least for me, and will always have a special place in my heart. #Unwritten ❤

Great song and thanks to her brother Daniel putting her name out there. This was definitely the era of making music without an actual orchestra (hell it has been since the early 89’s since they had to have this in order to make good music), then come in the computers and being able to make a gospel choir when it’s only two people singing is not only genius (somewhat frugal), but also talented that he (the DJ), Natasha and her sister did this….and of course the new generation of kids such as the Rony Boyy and other young adults taking what had been a one hit wonder and bringing it back to life, because as Cubby said “and to me a true hit will never go away”. Thanks for posting. ❤

This song is one of those "perfect" songs. great tune, great message, and great vocals. Honestly, just listening to the tracks separated here and me wanting to continue singing it is proof to myself how much it meant to me as an individual. Re-listening to the lyrics again now, I realize how much it has played a role in my life, what I've become, and my personal life philosophy. Oh... What a great song... Edit: I forgot to mention that at some points of the song, my throat got heavy and I started tearing up. What a powerful song... 🥲
