Well actually they do pay taxes, property and income, it’s just not true to say they don’t pay any. Also those corporations don’t pay tax because if your business is growing you get a tax break because they want to encourage business growth, it’s a good thing. _They_ most certainly _did_ set up the legal loopholes by dumping vast quantities of untraceable funds into the pockets of said politicians. The humour is excellent and it is the best way to get an overview of what sort of low things are being done to stay on top. If there were no humour it would be much harder to not be angered by what is being accepted by people wanting a cut of the money. The series makes it easier to see values for society as a whole and potential ways the inequities can be balanced by thinking more about people what would be good for them in the long run as a whole. In the end it also lets people see that you cannot win a rigged game and that the lure of one day becoming one of the elite is not actually realistic and not worth harming others through supporting a corrupt system. Thought provoking and laugh out loud funny. Good combination.

They closed this loophole but one of my favorite stories of tax evasion was back in the 90s when Walmart and others were taking out life insurance policies on store associates. They called it dead peasants insurance. Since the payout from life insurance isn't taxable. They would set up a life insurance corporation that they owned, take out policies on their employees, the premium is an intercompany transaction, expensed on one side and revenue on the other. They would then take out a loan on the payout. Whether the employee lived or died this shell game let them avoid taxes. They could transform otherwise taxable income into either cash in from a loan or the non-taxable payout from a insurance payout.

All that would need to happen to better prevent this, would be to simply make sure that enough artists and non-individual private sellers add specific clauses in their sales agreements to limit where the artwork can be stored or at least enforce that the user informs the public of its sell and to who using a secure public ledger like a stable coin/smart contract (blockchain) in order to limit hoarding or at least provide a public way for person to at least check if an item is being stored in some type of vault.
