This classic 1967 Ford F250 was saved off a property a year ago by my son and me. It had been forgotten on a property by a farmer that had apparently given up on the truck. We did get it running, but it had a host of issues to still work through that kept it off the road. A year later, we're ready to get it on the road officially. In this video, we'll be putting a complete brake system including all hard lines, soft lines, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, and even hardware, bearings, and seals. How do YOU think the first drive will go?

Yep I was waiting for that. I've never seen one of those old fords that didn't have the body mount delete. It's probably just a rust belt thing, but I have never bought one of these because of it, and I've looked at dozens. But after seeing the blind engineering just on the front axles, I'm glad I never found one. Talk about over complicating something simple.

We got a 66 f 250 two years ago when y son was 15 so he could learn to drive too. We are about to do the brakes too. We rebuilt the 352 engine and learned how to weld too. Great fun. Now we got a 64 Tbird for son number 2 they just put the engine back in it last weekend. It sure feels good working with the boys and glad to see you sharing the same experiences. My boys brought me to this sight after they kept calling the car parts by your names like sparkulators and fire maker. Love it.

Right in the feels Derek!! I was probably 11 years old when my dad taught me to drive his '67 F100 Ranger long bed on "back roads". Spending a lot of time in the middle with the underdash A/C freezing my giblets and only allowed to 'steer' occasionally. The moment finally came where I was behind that huge, skinny steering wheel, all those pedals down there (what do they all do?) and that column gearshift. I did quite well, I had that clutch held to the floor with my tippy toes and my knee locked. I wasn't gonna stall that 352 V8. There was so much going on!! Both legs dancing on so many pedals, my right arm shifting gears and my left hand keeping that big 'ol wheel centered with those tires "between the mayo and mustard LOL!!!!!". We were on dirt roads in undeveloped areas where you could shoot guns and drink beer while the dogs ran around. You can take everything from me, but you'll never take the best memories of my life!! I am so glad to have front row seats for you to share those same memories with your son.

@@FangBlah A lot of people mentioning asbestos. I think in my own country (Australia) we banned asbestos pads in '03. In the US, you guys were ahead, and banned them a decade earlier. I guess there's a chance a truck parked for 25 years may have asbestos pads - still, I'd be interested to know if manufacturers started phasing them out before then. We've got older houses jam-packed with the stuff, so a lot of it's still out there.

I am seriously excited to see Bradley throwin gears n spinning the rig around. Your boy is a hell of a kid. He’s well mannered, polite, he listens, he helps (without complaining), he’s FAR from lazy, he’s learning so much so fast and over all just seems so thrilled to be learning so much with his old man. Basically he’s absolutely 180 degrees from all other kids his age/generation. That’s what we need now days in kiddos. I say that with the most utmost respect as the friendly neighbor and not the creepy uncle. Sad fact that I even needed to elaborate on that but now days it seems like a must. My hats off to u Derek and your family. You got one hell of a wife and a boy any true man would be proud to call his son. God bless you all and I hope he grows up to just like u. We need kids like that and not the spoiled lazy shitcans ppl have as kids now who aren’t even 18 and thinks the world owes them everything. Did I mention how parents need to bring the old ass whooping back and tell the government to fuck off when it comes to raising your own kid, long as your not breaking bones or separating joints they’ll be fine. Love the videos and keep em coming. PS... Get a nice BIG dumpster for ye old truck stopper for Bradley so he doesn’t push it around too lol.

Detached, comfortable country humor that just goes down well on the ear. He'll unintentionally knock a huge chunk of metal off a car with a hammer and say, "Oh, well that'll just buff right out. We won't worry about that." It's a hoot.

I remember back in the day when using the airhose to blow off the breaks was the way to do it. Then we discovered brake-clean that kept the cancer cloud to a minimum.

He made a point of showing the safety goggles, then immediately took them off and started blowing brake dust in his face. Yelling at my screen didn't help.

If I didnt know better the way he turned the brake adjusters he has the right adjuster on the Left and VISE-VERSA. Those adjusting cables pull the adjusting wheel up to adjust the brakes out, and Derick rolled the wheel down to extend the shoes out for more drag.

yeah... mesothelioma comes along years later to remind you of all the times you blew the dust out of a set of drum brakes with compressed air. My dad did brake work for about 40 years and it eventually got him.

That truck reminds me of my dad's 1972 Chevy C20 Camper Special. It was a I6, 3 on the tree, and had heavy duty suspension since it was an ex fire department vehicle. I remember him and I working on it all the time and now that he's no longer with us, I've been thinking about getting another old truck so that I can fix it up and make him proud.

I'm a landscaper/snow removal kinda guy. So January and February in Denver allows me time to sit back and relax and watch my favorite go fast channels. I was getting worried thinking Kyle at 1320 was going to let me down and leave me with everything watched and time to kill. But then You Tube was good enough to lead me to your channel. I have to tell you, that you've made a feller very happy that your highly educational information is presented in such a way that I can't wait to find out what else you might leave me rolling on the floor gasping for more O2 with! So please keep Tanya busy and rolling tape while you keep up the awesome work you do! It's a big thank you from Denver!

You may have said it and I probably missed it, but I would expect you rave about your love of that lift every time you use it. What a fantastic tool that must be after years of being on your knees and on your back to just stand there next to it and work on it!

Just an FYI, I found over forty+ years of working on axles that use conical lock washers, all you need to do after you remove the axle flange nuts is tap each flange stud on its end with your Tonya Harding. The washers are spring steel. The vibration on the studs will pop the washers right out. Every once in a while you get a stubborn one but I have never once used a torch on those flanges. And I have been doing it a long long time. Give it a try next time you have a job like that. You will be surprised. It is a trick that I learned when I was a tank mechanic in the Army.

How did I learn auto mechanics from my Uncle? He stood and watched me do all the work under his guidance. His hands were clean while mine were greasy dirty. Gotta learn by doing it yourself. Advice is accepted, but you handle the tools and do it.
