Hi there's wrong translation when the soldier said we can continue the job and they don't come back to help us its their fault
@Vertilous3 жыл бұрын
The person who wrote the subtitles definitely isn’t Somali, I’m a Somali and English speaker and more than half of what’s said by the soldiers is not put in the subtitles, and the translations that weren’t missed are not accurate. You can see in their movements, their approach to these communities, the way they breach a door, enter and clear a room, even hold their weapon. They are not comfortable. They are not heavily trained. They are absolutely not ready. A basic infantry unit is better prepared than their “special forces”. Actually any unit, even non-combat, are better prepared than that.

That little girl’s story is so heart wrenching. And we have the audacity to take what we have for granted here in America and elsewhere in the world. Perspective is such a powerful thing to have. It absolutely broke my heart when she said America was to blame.

Some kid in Syria blamed Russia because it was a Russian helicopter that bombed his village. It literally doesn’t matter who did what when the end goal is to defeat terrorism/extremist rebels etc. and this is going for everyone including America
@joshl62753 жыл бұрын
@@OfficialRepublicans When the US toppled the Iraqi government over bogus reasons that ultimately turned out to just be about oil and corporate handouts, it created a major power vacuum. Gangland types like ISIS exploited this and built a sprawling terror network in the chaos. Interventions such as these, more than anything, are why we've been embroiled in conflicts in this region. And in any case, you have to ask why it's relevant to us at all. We aren't actually over there to fight terrorists. We really couldn't care less who is running these countries so long as they keep supplying us with rare earth minerals, diamonds and oil. It's all about money. But then you have to wonder, how much of the anti-Western extremism we're seeing is the direct result of ruthless exploitation of these countries by the West. It's a chicken and egg dynamic. You want to defeat terrorism using the same tools and imperialist activities that ultimately created it in the first place. Don't forget the CIA trained and supplied Al Qaeda for years before 9/11. So how do we defeat terrorism, ultimately? It's not a fight you can win with weapons alone. Really if you want radicalism to stop you have to stop giving these people reasons to radicalize and start giving them hope for the future. But this is at odds with our imperialist ambitions in these countries. It's kind of hard not to radicalize someone when you're bombing their homes. It's kind of hard to give someone hope when your main agenda is exploiting them. And so we fight. Just understand what that fight is really about and why the fighting never ends. And at the end of the day, it all boils down to money and control of resources. This has very little to do with ideology or the physical security of America's borders.

people in america get triggered over a wrong mcdonalds order ,the privilege
@trinc27193 жыл бұрын
Agree america has problems of it own but most of it is people crying over something while people like this have actual problems.America has great potential but it's being covered by ego and ignorance.I wish more people were able to see a different perspective like this to be grateful for what we have.As an American I'm embarrassed.😒

So because worse problems exist elsewhere the lesser ones shouldn’t be addressed? This is the same dumb logic of racists that tell black people not to complain about racism because some people in Africa have it worse

@@theochasid8996 Where do I start? Bad examples are littered throughout the whole video. Firstly, let me say, it's as if the soldiers and Vice have colluded to make a sexy video for viewers rather than make a factual one although the soldiers appear to give a complete answer to every question the journalist asks. Secondly, the whole video bases current military affairs in regards to fighting the terrorists on the experiences of some units in the middle of nowhere and claims they conduct "almost half of the operations against the al Shabab. At some point in the translations, it even makes it look as if the commander here, Mohamed is single-handedly spearheading the war on terror in Somalia lol. Thirdly, I get the feeling that Vice only presented what "they" wanted the viewers to see rather than what is happening on the ground, or indeed what they are saying in the video. But that is not what you asked me, and all those points I raised are topics for another day so let me limit myself strictly to the translations: Right off the bat, let me say, that it is not so much a case of bad translations or mistranslating what the soldiers are saying on purpose, but rather omitting 60% of what the soldiers are saying and only presenting the other 40% "correctly" for reasons only known to Vice. My guess is that they wanted to cherry-pick and choose the parts of an answer that agrees with their narrative. That and maybe to also make the video to be of a certain length. I'm being positive about the later part. So in order for me to tell you guys the "bad examples," it would mean I have to re-translate the whole video and present the missing part of each answer which is madness. I have no time for that. One example is that the video makes it desperately look that the soldiers are a bit bitter about the Americans leaving although when you hear the full answer the soldiers say that " We are thankful for what little help the Americans have given us previously in the form training and other types of assistance although they are no longer supporting us in this war against terror and we understand their reasons for leaving..". That is quite different from " The US is doing nothing.. and every sane person knows that whoever comes eventually leaves" as in the video. And almost every answer is upside down just like that. Finally, I think the video might be staged, notice how the girl is casually standing by with her gun facing down as another solder kicks in the door, with potentially suicidal terrorists and bombs on the other side of it? Sorry, I had no time to pinpoint the minutes and translate everything, the video is sexy but quite a mess still. They condensed everything, omitted a lot, did few wrong translations, and produced an incomplete but somewhat entertaining video for viewers. In my opinion, it would've been richer, more wholesome, and even more entertaining if they translated everything properly but that would require them to have an unbiased outlook, and do their job properly. Having said that I don't really doubt that in their mind, they had "good" intentions throughout the process of them delivering this "thought-provoking video".

That girl from the family of farmers is really telling the truth. Indeed the intention of the raids are to target Alshabab but in many instances the American drones kill innocent civilians and no one in Somalia or the US talks about such atrocities. I really cried with that poor girl. My heart bleeds for the innocent civilians caught in the line of fire.
@xzlemin9569 Жыл бұрын
People definitely talk about it but that's the nature of the situation sadly. Terrorist organizations are strong because they blend in with everyday people. They're not like gangs or cartels at all. They don't define themselves in any way to give you a target. It's picking a needle out of a haystack and by the time you find the needle there's a good chance you've lost your chance anyway. It's honestly part of the issue of entire populations being so uniform.
