I feel like she should’ve covered how this might affect orphanages and children who live in foster homes. Foster homes will have more kids now with the similar resources. Not every kid will get adopted & government has to step in.

They say “just put the kid up for adoption” like it’s so easy. 100k+ foster kids every year waiting to get adopted but are less favorable than a fresh baby with no family ties. On top of adoptions are not all “free” adoptee parents in agencies are vetted out and then pay and sign papers etc. Foster homes are scarce and research shows adoption agency’s are more favorable.

I had an abortion when I was a teenager, when I was incapable of and honestly unwilling to be a mother. Now, twenty-five years later, I'm the mother of four very loved, very wanted children. I was in an unstable and abusive relationship. Now I'm in a loving and healthy marriage. I was in high school and would have had to drop out to have and raise the baby. Now I'm a college graduate with B.A. I worked in the food service industry for minimum wage. Now I work for an educational software company and have a yearly household income of $107K. My entire life would have changed for the worse of I'd been forced to have that baby. Abortion enabled me to work toward the life I wanted so that, when I did eventually have my four children, they and I are stable, happy, and healthy.

@@connievino4226 but you are so very wrong. A single cell at conception is ‘not’ a child, it’s a human cell - then it becomes a zygote - then it becomes an embryo - then it becomes a fetus - then, after 9 months, it becomes a fully formed human. Calling a clump of cells a ‘child’ is a falsehood; and one that helps infiltrates the misinformation, lies, and propaganda that the pro-forced-birth movement is pushing. Those who are forcing people to carry a pregnancy and birth unwanted children are selfish. They obviously don’t care about the unwanted baby once born; and they certainly don’t care about those being forced to carry a pregnancy. Furthermore, calling women and their doctors killers for ending a ‘pregnancy’ is so beyond ignorant it’s not even laughable - it’s sick. Either one will educate themselves or not. But if they refuse to educate themselves, they have very little room to voice their frustrations as they won’t be heard. Those who support the overturning of RvW, and do ‘nothing’ to help better the broken system are ‘not’ pro-life - but instead, are responsible for supporting the extreme amount of unwanted children suffering; and possibly crippling our overwhelmed foster system.

I'm a teacher and I'm going to lay down a hard truth. In our society, people (particularly poor people) are not given support to manage their own lives. I've seen so many children raised by people who frankly don't have the ability to properly care for children. I'd say maybe 2/3 to 3/4 of people are simply not fit to have children. Forcing these people to have children they are simply not mentally or physically capable of taking care of will do nothing.

It's easy enough to say, "In an ideal society, no woman would seek an abortion, or ever need one." We don’t like it, but we do what is best for ourselves, our health, and our futures. It is incredibly painful, personal, and emotional for most of us, and there are so many factors and reasons. One in 4 women will have an abortion in her lifetime. I am one, and I personally know about a dozen women who’ve also had at least one abortion. But, that's not the world is, nor is it the world has ever been. Even before roe was established. If you could only get pregnant if you were financially well off the working class would never have kids. Either way, you don't want an abortion don't get one. Don't want a woman you're sleeping with to have one, don't get her pregnant. Better yet keep it in your pants and eliminate the risk. When that baby gets here you won't give a damn about what it will be born into. Where's all the uproar and plans for resources to help all these women that'll be forced to bring babies to term they didn't want. What physiological damage could be done with a mother caring for a child she didn't want to have but was forced to keep. I'm sure that'll be a healthy environment. Put them up for adoption you'll say. Yeah that's not a guaranteed solution either. Every child isn't going to get adopted. Some will go to bad homes, some will age out of the system at 18 and be thrown out onto the street because they're now adults. You gonna fake care about them then? I understand there is debate on when life begins and when a termination is appropriate, but to take away the whole procedure is crazy. Because ultimately a woman’s right to bodily autonomy should not have to be a debate. It’s not that difficult to understand that pregnancy and childbirth should not be forced upon anyone. Whether or not an embryo has ‘life’ should be secondary to the rights of women who are absolutely alive. Disregarding the pain and risks that come with childbirth, pregnancy alone is a strain physically and mentally. People don’t understand that just yelling adoption at women is not good enough. Especially when the healthcare, foster care system and social welfare in the US is as tragic as it is. The overturning of Roe is a step back for everyone, but it is especially a setback for the working class, for people living pay check to pay check, for POC women, for black birth givers who experience maternal mortality 2-3 times higher than white birth givers and for those whose pregnancies came from SA. It is a step back from modern medicine. And it is a disgrace. I understand if you don’t agree with abortion for yourself, but just because it’s not for you, it doesn’t mean it’s not for anyone else either. Because sure, women can be forced to give birth, but once the child goes into the system, the stats of SA, physical abuse, addiction, suicide skyrocket. And if you say you don’t agree with abortion yourself but would understand if someone else had the procedure due to circumstances, that is pro-choice. Pro-choice is believing in choice, choices women should have.

Pregnancies can cause irreversible damage to a woman's body and she can even die after giving birth. The US has the highest maternity deaths in the developed world and the hospitals bills are extremely expensive, cost of baby care with inflation in this country is rediculous and conteceptives are not a guarantee. If a woman wants to get her tubes tied or the removal of her reproductive organs she will often be denied by doctors meanwhile a man can easily get a reversible vasectomy but will refuse. Women should not be forced to carry and unwanted child to term and be stuck taking care of it for 18 yrs. Stop victim blaming. If you're religious you chose to follow that ideology and the rules that came with it, you have no right to impose your way of life on everyone else! Babies have no awareness, pain, conciousness or a will to live until 20 weeks. The religious are spreading mis information on purpose for thier agenda

Why are pro abortion biased documentary makers such as Vice, so afraid of covering the countless atheists and feminists who are anti abortion and ground their position in the morality of universal human rights, that ALL human beings are entitled to, including the unborn human child? Could it be that this would blow the lid on the pro abortion side's constant propensity for misinformation and obfuscation of actual scinetific facts about human development and the fact that abortion is the intentional killing of human children for arbitrary reasons and therefore is the continued violation of the most basic of all human rights in unimaginable and epic proportions?? @kk Dias a consent to sex is not a consent to pregnancy. And people don’t only have sex to procreate. Contraceptives and sex education are often under attack by the same people who want to ban abortions. And even when they’re easily accessible, they aren’t full proof and can easily fail even with zero human error. Since there’s always a risk to pregnancy from sex of course even with the most durable contraceptives, so what…women only should have sex when they were ready for it to result in a life long commitment? The average # of children per family in the US is what about two children? So We’d have sex about 2 times on average in our entire lifetimes? Should women who want no children be forced into sterility or asexuality by the state? What about the thousands who are coerced into sex if not outright raped? The if you don’t want kids then “close your legs” argument is made by morons or religious theocrats who throw all real world implications out the window and want big government not only in our bed rooms, our doctors offices, our uteruses dictating not only what to do with our bodies and our health but also this completely mythical Gilead la la land where (just women somehow, men are never addressed in this mythical land) should be more responsible and only have sex if they’re willing for it to result in a child.

Those who receive abortions are more likely to go on and have a *wanted* child later. Under better circumstances.” That… is a big punch to the gut. My point was that many of these women ended up having more kids later and probably more than if they had had to have had the kids at a younger age or in a much less stable time in their lives.

"I believe women should have the choice of what to do to their body. " by your "logic" child abuse needs to be legal because that's just a woman doing something with her body (hands). By your "logic" child abandonment/endangerment needs to be legal because that's just a woman doing something with her body (e.g. taking it to the beach while leaving a newborn home alone to die). i.e. Just as child abuse and endangerment are not about someone doing something to their body, neither is abortion. What's beyond insane is calling killing an unborn child "doing something with my body". It's not - it's doing something (KILLING!) the body of ANOTHER innocent human being. I hope this helps you understand why abortion needs to be illegal.

@Mathilde Young This isn't about your point of view, or mine for that matter. It is about a person's right to choice. Our morals have nothing to do with it. Can they afford to take care of the baby? Most women below the poverty line cannot. And what about those whose very lives are at risk? Will doctors be forced to let them die so the babay comes to term? Such bullshit. I'm not for abortion, but I am against any law that prohibits anybody from doing what they want to their body. People can legally mutilate themselves in the name of 'sex change' but women can't make decisions that fundamentally alter their lives? Miss me with that nonsense. God will Judge them for the murder you accuse them of. Not you. There must always be a separation between Church and State. Besides, abortions will keep happening in a black market, putting more women at risk. It's not worth it

People are brainwashed to believe that killing a baby is not murder. Think about the words in that statement. If we all put God first in our life, we would clearly see the truth and all act righteously and handle all issues righteously. The most important thing for all of us and our loved ones to do before we leave this messed up world, is and always has been, to be spiritually prepared for our ETERNAL life by admitting and repenting of our sins and believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Bible and being spiritually born again by honestly accepting Jesus Christ, God on earth, as our Savior by believing that He was born one of us to die and resurrect from the dead to pay for our sins for us so that our sins will not condemn us at the final judgment, to reconcile us sinners with God to give us eternal life with Him. THE GOSPEL (THE GOOD NEWS) OF JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR Jesus Christ came down here from heaven, God on earth, to be born one of us His own creation and He dwelt among us for over three decades and He taught us about God and His eternal heavenly kingdom and how to live righteously and He lived a perfect sinless life. Then He gave His sinless life to all people from all nations to pay for our sins for us, by dying on the cross and resurrecting from the dead three days later, to pay for our sins for us to reconcile us sinners with God to give us eternal life with Him, and after He resurrected from the dead, He lived on earth for forty more days, speaking to many people, then He ascended back up into heaven and He is coming back again at the end of this world to set up His eternal heavenly kingdom and all people will see Him and have our sins judged by Him.

Everyone since 1973 knew the Roe vrs Wade decision was a bad decision that set bad precedence in the law, in that the supreme court of the time made up an imaginary connection in the constitution to abortion, that doesn't exist. The danger was, if it was never corrected, a future court could also make up laws by making imaginary connections between the issue and the constitution. Even if we disagreed with it - whether it's the woman who worked with Phyllis Schlafly or the 18 year old wanting an abortion at the end - we needed to hear the person explain in their own words. This is one reason I love watching Vice documentaries! They're so good at striving toward balance (even though that's difficult to fully achieve for any news program).

I'm of the mindset that anyone and everyone that votes pro-life should be forced onto a registry similar to selective service or the draft , so all the unwanted children that are brought into the world and will end up in the foster care system are placed into their care- because these very same people are so interested in someone else's life choices they can actively take care of the unwanted children born of elimination of abortions. I can imagine how quickly legislation would be overturned if these religious zealots were forced to take care of these kids. I'm a moderate but the fact of the matter is this, the left is really good at making a lot of noise but the right wing is really good at getting things done quickly and quietly. The left needs to grow a pair and get organized behind the scenes, as much as a rally or protest is good for a quick sound bite, the left fails constantly at actually changing things. Grow a pair and get it together

@@bltzcstrnx The reason we have these debates when other countries - from Europe, for example- largely don’t is that the US has historically had some of the most absurdly permissive abortion laws in the world. It’s not enough to allow abortion in the very early term. Politicians here insist on keeping it legal past 21 weeks (and even further in some states). It’s absurd, even by European standards. Everyone knows that a fetus at that stage is a living human being, but they just don’t give a crap. If the left would moderate its position a bit, there probably wouldn’t be that much debate. It would take all the wind out of the sales of pro-lifers. But as long as the US keeps allowing 10,000+ 21-week-old babies to be killed in the womb every year, the pro-life movement is going to stand strong.
