lol at the comments from people who watch a 13 minute video by Vice and think they are now experts on Mexico and the situation in this part of the country. Sinaloa is an extremely complicated state that has a long history of banditry and distrust of the government that goes way back before El Chapo or the Sinaloa Cartel. The roots of the Mexican Revolution are arguably in Sinaloa with a little known figure named Heraclio Bernal Zazueta who would steal from affluent families and give to the poor and also started an uprising against the central government. Also much of the indigenous population in the state learned to be very distrustful of the government as practically the only times they saw the government was when land was being taken for something. This is important because the families mentioned in this video (those who live in the mountains) are typically those of indigenous heritage. And lastly Sinaloa is a state largely dependent on agriculture yet the money that most farmers in Mexico make especially after the introduction of NAFTA in the 90's is very little and is part of the reason why many will often choose to also plant a "cash crop" such as poppy. It does not necessarily mean that the farmer knows some high ranking drug lord it really may just be someone trying to provide for their family in whatever way is possible.
@jdizzle72498 жыл бұрын
rutaloot Sinaloa is overhyped lol yanno how many white people go to mazatlan and culiacan? It ain't as dangerous as everyone says it is, Chicago, New Orleans and Detroit and St. Louis all have way higher homicide numbers than anywhere in Sinaloa, not trying to Diss you or nothing or trying to make you look dumb, I'm just saying what I seen and have looked up
@jasonmvallance7 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% with every word u said, and the US. and other countries in Europe have done very little to stop the demand for drugs, as the guy said they would not plant a crop when the price or demand was low, these ppl are not making fortunes from planting poppy or ganja, and I dont blame them not trusting the gov, they have less honor than the cartel guys, at least the cartel look after their own, the gov loyalty goes to the highest bidder(in bribes).

People who lives over there in the "gold triangle" as we call it, is usually people WHO ACTUALLY WORKS for the cartel of Sinaloa which belongs to this so named "Chapo" ALSO another funy thing is how the Mil Mi 17's used by the Mexican Navy uses 30 mm guns, which basically would have killed that guy on the spot with just the fragments of the bullet who entered his house, he's also wearing Giorgio Armani shirt and has all the looks of a local sicario who works for this kind of shit, They also get usually payed by the same cartel to do some "defamation" work against the navy/ army stating shit they would never believe on their own, they also commonly work in the Marijuana crops and the Amapola ones, They are basically "Chapo's" employees.

@alieneduardo9 жыл бұрын
2:45 I call that bs, 99.99% of Mexicans know who el Chapo is, specially in that region. Also, what the guy said about "not knowing anyone associated to el Chapo" is a lie, if he has grown marijuana and poppy (which he admites) then he has to sell it to someone, and who shall that be? that's right, a cartel member. If you are going to lie at least make it seem legit. All those people have family members who are part of a Cartel and thus they protect them, is to be expected, no one wants his brother or son dead. Anyways, the army is doing things in the wrong way.

@the_unkn0wn_podcast9 жыл бұрын
you do realize it's not that they don't know who is, they don't mention his name because even doing that in Mexico is very risky.
@alieneduardo9 жыл бұрын
martin austin Syko17 you didn't get the point of what I said. Of course they would never say "oh, el Chapo? yeah, he came to my house a couple hours ago", it's obvious. What I meant is if they are going to lie and hope for people to believe them then they should do it better. If you are saying you don't know anyone related to a Cartel and moments later you admit that on occasions you have supply them with raw material then you're stupid. If you complain saying that you "don't even know who el Chapo is" then good luck with them believing you, specially if one of his lawyers is the one legally advising you. My point is that these people are in one way or the other related to criminal organizations and they indeed protect their members since they personally know them. I'm Mexican btw, and I assure you that if you ask anyone from Sinaloa if they have a family member who is a cartel member they will say yes, is part of their culture.

It's an unfortunate reality in fighting the cartel. Sometimes you're going to crack a few eggs in the attempt to get rid of the rotten ones. That said I do think the use of air assets to take out drug lords should only be used when they've positively identified the locations of these criminals, not in a shotgun sort of way to level the entire community in hopes of killing the individual targets they're after.
