This is the Michael Jordan of climbing. Nobody else is close to this dude....like hendrix - he has nobody ahead - he's creating the game. I'm a big fan too, but to be fair, Alex is as likely as any climber to make the sport more lucrative for both himself and others. I am certain money hasn't, and never will become a primary motivation for him, but I also think the sport isn't exactly a gold mine that would make a great climber shift focus toward "chasing millions"; where are these millions? Even pretending for a second, that he did decide to focus on making as much money as possible, most likely, what he's doing would be the best way to continue to attract the kind of attention that can be parlayed into endorsement deals, movie deals and cash and he is doing that, which is great, because it allows him to climb constantly.

That's what's so refreshing about him. Most people, when they're that good at something, they waste no opportunity to show it off. And in today's society, where we all get pushed into promoting our own 'brand', most people feel pressured to always present the most polished, most successful version of themselves. Alex genuinely doesn't seem to care. As long as he gets to climb, he's a happy dude. And I think that in a world full of insta-famous rolemodels we could use some more people like him, who know what's really important and don't try to change themselves to fit some kind of mold.

Much respect to Alex for what he does for the community and his climbing skills. I was always terrified of heights and ended up climbing to overcome that fear. Was the hardest thing I've ever done. Period.

The solar projects are awesome. I find solar power to be magical, amazing, common sense etc. My family used it for hot water for the last 35 years and we saved a lot of money and never ran out of hot water. You feel like it should become law for all new homes.

This is so funny. I just love how panicky everyone else is thinking of sending blankets via a helicopter and then there's Alex and his crew just chilling out eating food past midnight at the resort. Could not stop chuckling.

Dustin Balthis actually I don’t think so. I’m an African who grew up in Canada. It was humbling going back to my homeland and seeing people really appreciate things that we take for granted in developed countries. Seeing that you can be so happy with so little (even though if they could have more they would)

I am really glad to see this incredibly skilled young man doing service for others in need. In the end he will rewarded much more for this than his climbing achievements. Personal achievement is often a selfish ambition which is fine and propels people to the top of their field but doesn't make one truly happy. selfless service for others does.

Alex is awkward to begin with, but having him sit through Joe going on his rants about consciousness and spirituality made me super uncomfortable.

@jonesjeremiah5 жыл бұрын
I saw someone dislocate his knee jumping down from a height like that. He wasn't a pro climber but still its easy to injure yourself even from a low height like that. And also when it comes to climbing accidents happens mostly because of human error. If you start to slack because its easy and you have done it a hundred times then you start doing mistakes. Especially when you spot or belay someone you always stay focused and alert even when its easy or the risk is low. You need to condition your brain to be on point. If you guys think this is cringy then you are just idiots and hopefully you will never spot someone because you are not trustworthy.
