I think guys mess up training for Conor thinking he's a boxer, or they bring in a taekwondo guys to mimic him but it fails to give the proper looks. He's made his own style and all components meld together seamlessly, the boxing using the karate movement/teakwondo stance and movement with a touch of capoeira at times makes him a handful, everything centered around the left hand shot

In TKD your taught to raise the knee in preparation for all kicks, side, turning, thrust, hinge even crescent. With a slightly out of reach opponent, I could get enough forward momentum from bring my knee up, hinge kicking, slide forward perhaps a 1/3ft and bringing down an axe kick. Apart from spinning kicks the only one that springs to mind that doesn't start from a raised knee is a hook kick. You may think it telegraphs attacks but from a raised knee you don't know where and how I'm going to kick. You may think its slow but ok block my side kick, I'll throw a few more without having to put my foot down and lift it again. Maybe one or two will be feigned, I've slipped boxers guards by feigning leg kicks.

Try a detailed breakdown of HOW Conor Mcgregor throws his straight left. Especially, HOW the punch impacts his opponent. I have yet to see a thorough breakdown. Robin Black did a good breakdown as well as Dan Hardy. But I have yet to see anyone adding the level of detail to explain how Conor delivers his power with an almost instantaneous "snap" at the end of his punch. Look at how he punches (frame-by-frame footage) when he misses with his straight left. Notice how he places his focal point where penetration is through his target (striking 101) and how his wrist goes limp "wrist flick" and his arm almost looks like it hyper extends when he misses. They physics of his fist hitting the target has yet to be broken down. May sound trivial but it's far from it. It would be interesting for Sport Science to have one of the 100,000 frames/sec cameras record the mechanics of Conor's straight and break it down. This is truly a unique punch much like Muhammid Ali punched. The punches don't look hard but they definitely are! Often referred to as "flash knockdowns" in boxing when opponents get hit with this type of punch or "phantom punches." There is a LOT going on that last 50-0 milliseconds of his fist making impact with his opponents chin would show. Who will be the first to correctly break it down and understand it. I've researched the Internet on AIi' punch and I've found foot of the bigger picture talking about footwork and what muscles he used. But nothing on why when he missed his wrist appears to go limp and "flicks" upward at the very end or why the same dynamics occur with Conor's punch. And with Conor's punch it appears his arm stretches (hyper extends) 30% when he misses. The point being is HOW Conor is delivering all his power (kinetic energy) in very briefing (millisecond) period of time on the END of his punch. It is a very special way of punching that I suspect few understand or have even thought much about.

+Harry Mills There is a film study showing Conor`s straight left is like former heavyweight champ Joe Louis`s straight right. Except Louis scored mainly KO`s while Conor scores mainly TKO`s. Have you changed your mind since the Floyd fight about Conor`s power?!
@harrymiles29063 жыл бұрын
@@markant9534 The Floyd fight was interesting. Connor never was able to get an angle on Floyd (not surprising) to maximize his power like he does when he runs someone along the cage...such as the shot he landed on Chad. But I'll admit he was never able to deliver his power to Floyd which doesn't surprise me. I knew Conor had no chance against Floyd.

He's not a hypejob, he's a legitimate fighter. But that does not change the fact that he's extremely disrespectful and arrogant. Why are Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather despised for this arrogance, but McGregor worshipped? I do not deny his fighting ability, but I think that he is megalomaniac and egocentric.
@skinnybuddhaboy8 жыл бұрын
+Nika Zardiashvili - The reason McGregor is more loved than them is because he also has a very funny side which people see often, while Mayweather and Rousey don't have that funny side. They seem to be 100% serious when boasting while McGregor's boasts also seem serious, you know he is playing for the crowds and we regularly see his more human and comical side. The man is a funny fucker!
@AikiNickAMV28 жыл бұрын
EL UNO You're probably right, but, to be honest, I don't really find him funny. Plus, I have no doubt, regardless of his jokes, that his megalomania and conviction that he is a superior human being are dead serious in his mind. He does not seem to realise that just because he is a great fighter and has become popular and successful does not give him the right to be arrogant and conceited.

McGregor "avoided" the counter against Mendes because it would compromise his position for takedown defense.
@faklfa56218 жыл бұрын
+GetSchanked maybe that. But also Mcgregor knew he'd have to push the pace against a wrestler. When wrestler fails to take his opp. down or hold his opp. down, that's when he's most tired. When Chad went for a guilotine and failed, Conor literally through punches while getting up. He didn't give Chad a second to take a breather. Body work + relentless pressure.
@jwkelley8 жыл бұрын
+GetSchanked Mendez is also mostly a counter fighter and would probably just wait Mcgregor out.
@bullboombap8 жыл бұрын
+Fakl Fa While you're not wrong, Chad had no problem getting Connor down or keeping him down. He went for the choke because his tank was empty and Connor knew that the scramble burned his arms out and would leave Chad's hands low. It was his best chance to get the upper hand because he knew he wouldn't get back up if Chad took him down again. Knowing Chad had no training camp, he took advantage of the significant drop Chad would have after the scramble, because if Chad had time to recover Connor would most likely be put back down. Although, I'm not sure Chad would have recovered well. He saved the day for the UFC but he was done. Connor's fight intelligence is pretty extraordinary. He knew that was his best shot. I'm glad we will now finally get to see him fight a top ranked fighter who's actually had a full camp. It's a very interesting match-up of contrasting styles.
