it is, by far, one of the funniest bits in tv history. I remember watching the show as a kid and loved it, watching the elephant story cracks me up, every time.

Comedy pieces like this make me wish I had been old enough to know when it aired. Some of the sketches of the past, before my time, are some of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I watch that blooper every few months when I need a spiritual lift. It is without a doubt one of the funniest moments in TV history and the reaction of the cast to Vickie's comment is totally priceless.

I saw this when it aired the first time. It was the first time I ever heard a 'dirty word' on TV. I was positive Dick Van Dyke was trying NOT to pee in his pants even at that young age. That act will forever be one of the funniest if not THE funniest moments in the history of film.

I loved Tim Conway. I loved how Harvey Korman was physically incapable of getting through a Conway sketch without laughing. The dentist sketch was like that too. If Conway was involved more than likely someone else would have to leave the scene.

Calling it a blooper is a bit of a misnomer. The bomb Vicki dropped was quite deliberate. And one of the funniest moments in TV history.
@senorkaboom9 жыл бұрын
Thinking about it, Tim did the perfect set up for Vicki's comment. That long, convoluted elephant story and Burnett's reaction to it just created the situation that Vicki's character, Mama, needed to add one of the greatest punchlines in comedy.

Why does the title refer to this as an "infamous" blooper? That was one of the most memorable moments ever, in a good way. People love it; it's one of the most hilarious moments ever. There was no controversy about it. Just because they bleeped a word does that make it "infamous"? Just from the comments here, it's obvious people LOVE it. Infamous is a bad choice of words.

I remember very vividly when the episode aired. Looking at the footage now, they did some very clever editing, because there were no bleeps or bleep-ables. I recall laughing myself to tears when Tim did the line about the elephants not being able to trumpet, just say "norkey".

What Viki said is the REAL punch line to the Elephant story. Tim built up SO MUCH tension with the story. If Viki had said nothing, I think the whole sketch would have flopped. What Viki said was totally inspired!

One of the funniest scenes in television EVER. Tim Conway was genius at improv. To watch other professionals laugh at his stuff meant even more. The "*thnnnort* Juslikedat." thing STILL kills me, and it has been a loooooooooong time since it first airs. It's right up there with Betty Whyte's Herring Circus story, and Niles Craine's Ironing His Pants sketch (from Fraiser).
