Nice work, I think when you consider the weight difference between a f1 car and these things the fuel economy is actually much better. A 1.5 litre making 1000hp with battery help and a 12 litre making 1100hp without hybrid assistance. They are an under rated category for the show they put on.
@michalisevripidou64614 жыл бұрын
I would like to point out that modern F1 engines are more efficient than it is stated in the video. If we consider that within the rules, an F1 car can carry a maximum of 105kg of fuel, that is around 145L (105/0.721=145.6). A normal GP is a distance of around 305Km, so (100*145)/305= 47.7 L/100Km which translates to 5.9 miles/gallon (UK). And that is if we take that in every race they start with the maximum amount of the fuel they can, which is not correct as many teams start with much less of it due to wanting to be lighter. With an over-estimate of lets say 80kg of fuel onboard, fuel economy raises to 36.4 L/100Km or 7.76 miles/gallon (UK).
@Predalienn4 жыл бұрын
@@michalisevripidou6461 You're right, but an F1 car is still not 5500 kg ... and let's not forget about the amount of drag that giant cabin produces at higher speeds, I was surprised with the average 2 miles/gallon... I was guessing 2 gallons/mile :)))

Bloody hell, 16 speed manual while racing.
@gewoontimm4 жыл бұрын
16 speed is just 4 low gears, 4 high gears and a gearsplitter (overdrive) for every gear... so without a trailer he can keep the splitter active and start in 2nd gear, move to 4th gear move to 6th gear and move to 8th gear with a splitter.. because he doesnt have a trailer to pull he can skip gears.. its easier to do, then to explain it from my experience
@thomasburke79954 жыл бұрын
What is not being shown is the fact these transmissions appear to be synchronous meshed boxes .north American class 8 units have up to 18 to 22 gears and are all NON synchronous
@gewoontimm4 жыл бұрын
@@thomasburke7995 as the guy with the black truck saids.. its basicly a factory engine and gearbox with the boost put up higher... witch can be done.. and a diffrent gear ratio in the rear diff to let the truck do 160 km/h without pumping out 6 pistons at 2500+ rpm... as that is where the factory revlimit is

@@thomasburke7995 All due to stubbornness and stupidity. There's no need for non-syncromesh manual gearboxes in heavy trucks anymore. It would be better for both comfort and fuel economy to use an automated/robotic gearbox like the Volvo I-shift.

Normal trucks don't have brakes near as good as this ones. The problem is not the cooling solution, which in this case is needed because of the extreme temperatures they reach in during races. If a normal truck has a brake failure, it's because it doesn't have good brakes at all.
