There are many different ways to say "Excuse me" in Korean for different situations. While watching this video, I recommend repeating after every phrase as they appear to enhance your learning :) 화이팅!

Thank you so much for breaking down each part of the sentence and each word. It really helps the learning process and allows me to break down the words and swap out nouns/verbs to create more phrases. You do a very good job.

This is very clear and helpful! I'll be using all of these when I'm traveling in August 👍🏾 Previously, it was hard to know which phrase is most appropriate to use in different contexts, but you've explained each one so clearly and applied them well - thank you so much!

Hanja is so useful when memorizing new Korean words! Should I learn hanja along with a new word or should I do hanja independently? I know some 80 hanja, but I'm starting to confuse them... How do Koreans do it? Thank You!

You are a very good teacher. However we are new to Korean, therefore please speak slowly so that we can catch it
@juniperrodley9843
@juniperrodley9843 Жыл бұрын
I disagree; hearing it at native speaking-speed with the subtitles is great for learning. The captions make sure we catch everything said, while the speed gradually gets us accustomed to hearing it fast. You'll need to parse fast speech eventually; best to learn early IMO.

When I stood in a long line of people at an airport with the other passengers, there was this Korean person who wanted to pass across. He said "잠깐만요" (at least that's what I think I heard). Would this also mean "excuse me" in a way?
@shinytomoon
@shinytomoon Жыл бұрын
잠시만요 and 잠깐만요 are pretty equivalent. i believe one is hanja based and the other is native korean

Yes 잠시만요 and 잠깐만요 mean the same thing "just a moment." For some reason tho, when saying excuse me, 잠시만요 sounds politer than 잠깐만요. Or maybe it's just me. You can still use both :)

Whats the difference between 씨 and 님 when addressing someone? Is 씨 a general mr./ms. address, and 님 a specific type of mr./ms. that acknowledges the person being in charge of something? I most often hear 님 in candid videos where kpop idols are talking about their producer/director 피 디 님
@KoreanwithMissVicky
@KoreanwithMissVicky Жыл бұрын
님 and 씨 both mean mr., miss., ma'am, but 님 sounds more respectful in comparison. So you can call each other with 씨 if you're talking with a close colleague or someone of lower rank/younger age, but usually, when addressing someone you're not very close or in a formal relationship, you can say name + 님 :)

Those expressions are used when you move through or push through a group of people. They are also used when you want other people in your way to step aside because you need to quickly push forward a stretcher or a cart.

안녕하세요 ! Hi Vicky, in the past you made a video where you gave a broad explanation about the verb 되다. I searched all over but I'm not able to find it. Maybe you know by head what's the title of that specific video? If so I hope you can let me know the title of that video! Have a nice week!! : )
@KoreanwithMissVicky
@KoreanwithMissVicky Жыл бұрын
I think maybe you meant this video about object markers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep7dpmaQaa1npZo It starts from somewhere around 31 mins :) or you can check the time stamp for "verbs that follow 이/가, not 을/를"

@@KoreanwithMissVicky Hi Vicky! 👋 Thanks a lot! this is exactly the video i was looking for. Now I can finally continue studying the functions of 되다. I'm learning Korean by self-study (I'm just a beginner, Level 1) and noticed that 되다 often appears in Korean sentences. I would therefore like to know more about this type of word and its application. I started learning 한글 since July 2022. After a search on KZbin I came across your video about 한글, end until today i'm dedicated to learn the Korean language. As you have probably heard many times before, your videos are very enjoyable! You explain the material in a structured and thorough way and with practical examples! Thanks for the time and effort you put into those videos! Have a blessed spring & Greetings from the Netherlands! 😉
