I grew up watching Artis Gilmore. He spent his last two years of college at Jacksonville University, about 2 miles from my childhood home! He rocked our city! He and Kareem were both 7’2” He was drafted in the 7th ROUND, 117 overall and played with the Bulls, the Spurs and the Celtics. Yep, he made it to the Hall of Fame too.

Let him sit for a year and build out his frame. His game will translate with time, his body won’t if you don’t give it the time. You don’t want to ruin a player of this much potential by rushing him out. The Spurs will likely play him at the Center position and his current frame will not be able to handle that for long. Look at Kristaps, was healthy until he had a setback. Guys that size can never get back to being healthy as easily. You don’t want to risk 20 years of production rushing him out for 1. Doesn’t even have to sit the entire year but I’d never let him play over 10 minutes a game in year one.
