The thing that's amazing about both Jaco and Victor is not only were/are they great players, but that they both brought something new to the instrument. There are tons of great players out there, but I've heard very little new since Victor popped on the scene in the late 80's. Hopefully someone will come up with something new soon - it sure won't be from me. My last original thought was around 1982 and it had nothing to do with bass :-)

That’s about how much it costs Larry to make these somewhere in China. Samson/Hartke are about a half a step up from Behringer when it comes to reliability and quality control. They’re cheap and pretty powerful though. If you can deal with that very colored and crispy tone and you’re looking for a lot of power for cheap, then you won’t be disappointed with Hartke. Just don’t expect an audiophile tone, OR to sound like Victor lol. His tone is coming from his hands and that insanely good sounding Fodera bass doesn’t hurt either. ✌️

@mikecimerian69135 жыл бұрын
Quite possibly. Sometimes parents buy their kids cheap guitars. It won't boost them to a higher level as quickly as with a good instrument. When I changed from my old cheap classical guitar to an Ovation acoustic then I felt something was holding me. My best advice, do not go for cheap and there are very good instruments available by independent makers. I bought a Telecaster copy from a local maker. I had many times the value of low end brand names. :-)

What did he do at 2:28? Was that a pinch harmonic?
@tomt86918 жыл бұрын
It's a bit tricky to get that harmonic.You can check Victor Wooten's videos(I don't remember which ones) where he demonstrates this.Here's my attempt to explain it: What you do is thump(hitting a note with a thumb) the G note.As soon as your thump passes the E-string to rest on the A-string,you immediately move you it up to very slightly touch the E-string at the bottom while your left hand is still holding the G note.Immediately after that very slight touch,you'll start to hear the harmonic and then you need to move the thumb away immediately to let harmonic ring.It takes only two thumb motions(down for the first thump and up for the slight touch),that's it. Good luck!

Yeah I know, now actually this amp. But I'm saying that could be any amp that would sound amazing tho... With a 10k$ Fodera, helps a bit more I think. LOL (what I know is that he uses (or used to) U5 Avalon preamp, which I played a lot, and this was trully amazing!)
@MrZombs1238 жыл бұрын
yeah, good point man.. Im positive that bass has a lot to do with it too, and obviously his skill. I'm sure the pre-amp does add to it also.. I remember back in the day when Hartke wasn't so great.. However Im pretty sure that If Vic is playing them these days they have to pretty good id imagine.

@elancaster8088 жыл бұрын
Eduardo Santana what "are lots of other things that should influence it"? It's not a solid-state amp, which means it's much more efficient being a class D amp with an additional 100 watts. You ask a silly question instead of researching it yourself and then proceed to respond to a generous answer like a know it all with "Yeah, I know its obvious." I am curious as to what else would make 600wts less than 500. This is Hartke's first lightweight head and it's just like every other class D amp, loud as Fuuuuh with great bottom end and punch. The older Hartke's and newer large heads are solid-state, some with a single 12AX7 tube preamp like most class D amps. This is by far their most efficient amp and I'd be confident in saying it's just as loud as the LH1000 having played them both through the same Aguilar 4ohm 4x10 cab. Now IF they offered a full tube pre and power amp you might have a point, and a sore back but if "if" was a fifth we'd all be drunk. 600>500 🤔...

Yeah well his amps arent expensive but dont forget guys, he endorses a fodera company, has his signature bass made there, I didnt personally check the price range of his model but I bet its highly over 5k€. Other than that, I was a longtime user of hartke systems (mainly with the XL4.5 cab) and I must say, even when switching to a SWR Goliath 610 which is like a few classes higher stuff than the 4.5xl hartke and genz benz/gallien krueger heads, I still miss my Hartke setup sometimes. Great stuff. The only "problem" is that they have kind of dropped down in quality slightly ever since they stopped their USA production. Now basically everything is made in china.
