This is one of the very few bass players I could ever actually get into... The first person I ever heard was the Flea, but I never got into him, he just didn't sound that good to me, eventually, I accidentally ran into Victor Wooten while searching for a Flea video to see if my mind would change, and I saw Vic... I jizzed myself at least a million times... He's amazing...

You are a true professional and a true musician,BeDaMusik. People always compare the bass to the guitar because they are both stringed instruments.Like apples and oranges.The two are completely different.Guitar is melody/harmony and bass is rhythm/beat. You are pretty cool...uh for a guitar player I mean. :P ;)

Agree with most of you guys!! Whover thinks that bass isn't an essential instrument - whether they are into jazz, country, rock, heavy metal...whatever....I challenge you to listen to it without bass and not think there is something MASSIVE missing....BECAUSE THERE WILL BE!!

If you think bass sucks you just don't know that it is the second most important instrument in any style of music. Bass and drums are the rhythm, which in football terms they would bee the linemen. If you listen to music you hear the bass. The bass moves you, it sets the grove.

@BeDaMusik Bass is FUN to play, there is just so many different things that can be done, and since bass is so underrated there are more people coming out these days and showing up even their own guitarists. I am a Metalhead, of many forms except the bad stuff, and I love coming back and finding bassists from all sorts of music like Jazz Funk fusion and it just sounds so cool. There are definitely many non metal musicians that inspire me. Thank you Victor Wooten for being one of them.

@BeDaMusik That's the truth! Bass adds depth and helps keep everybody on the same page. It translates the drums for the guitar. Every band needs a bassist =) I love playing bass a hell of a lot more than plaing guitar that's for sure, and people do need to appreciate us bassist.

I agree with that, my only point is that not everything can be improvised (Victor does not play free jazz, he plays fusin)... most people like the message from the CD, so the interpret may present that AND a new, improvised one.

the bass isn't a backround, unessential instrument, it is vital for filling the gap in the levels of sound. the drums and the guitar and vocals would sound flimsy and hollow without the level filled by the bass. Oh yea and It sounds amazing, larry graham, victor wooten, stanely clarke, marcus miller, all animals.

@BeDaMusik i hate it when people say the bass is gay. i play in 2 bands and when people hear me play they think 'omg he is good'! and say this but next day they say 'you cant play bass for sh**' the bass is a major part of music. it forms the core and sets the tempo which everyone goes at. look at living in the 70's or play that funky music and you will see that bass is important

@kvetonp What are you? Some kind of text psychic?! How could you know anything about me from a few lines on KZbin. I am a bass player who studied jazz at music college and i have a degree in music and recording. I did Grade 8 when i was 17. So i think that qualifies my opinion to subject matter. Didn't say he was rubbish. I said it was boring. Heard all those noodley licks a million times on different instruments by different musician. No fire or originality. Thanks for stopping by?!.....Lame!

First of all, I play bass, guitar, drumset, piano and sax (all saxes) and I wile bass is difficult to play, and is a whole different instrument than the guitar, don't discount guitar players. Anybody can sit there and play the base note of a chord that knows a thing or two about music, but it takes talent to play it well. Just like you claim anyone can play loud, bs buddy. I'm an acoustic player mainly, and I play things that are unusual, yet they sound awesome. Don't diss guitarist buddy.
@CarlosGarayG
@CarlosGarayG 16 жыл бұрын
to begin, harmonic arrangement is not the same as a melody. maybe you are forgetting that the bassist is not the only musician on stage, and therefore you think he can do whatever he wants... such shows would be lame, hence the reason victor tours with a band and not with a drum machine and a programmed synthesyzer. there is a time to improvise and a time to follow the song's original message.

of course no one hear the bassist. in an emo concert. if you're happy in your life jamming as a rhythm guitarist playing nothing but power chords without knowing the difference between the notes of A minor scale and C major scale (it's a trick question i know), i suggest you better run off to the next secondhand serenade show while us people enjoy victor wooten and tetsuo sakurai, deal? and you don't have the slightest shittiest clue about those two either. you read emopedia.
