I was looking for a traditional version of this ballet. The step “sisters “ we’re SO good I was totally hooked. All of the dancers were fabulous and the whole production was captivating. Thanks.

In fact, this production shows how easily Prokofiev’s (and other composers’) most inspired music can be ruined. Except for a few rare moments, much of the music’s psychologically complex and profound moments were completely ruined by the most banal choreography. Very sad, indeed!

Most modern productions of Cinderella do use men for the step-sisters (and sometimes the mom). If you want to see the step-sisters done very well by ballerinas, check out Nureyev's 20s-era re-imagining of Cinderella (just do "Guillem Cinderella).
