Tbh the main reason I'm trying so hard to learn how to play this game it's because I feel once I know how to navigate the physical mechanics of it I'll be in for a really fun crash course on economics in history. But holy Christ of Nazareth I do not know how to build anything

This video is by far the best tutorial I've seen. I think because of the way this game is so interconnected, I find it much more helpful to explain how they work together than just saying "This is Authority and what it does." Context is so important in this game.

Never heard of the Victoria series until now, I bought the game before I was 15 minutes into the video. It sounds incredible. I've never heard someone talk about the velocity of money in a game before, let alone one with so many other components beyond just finance. This looks incredible. I'm glad I stumbled upon this whilst binge watching Civ 6.

@@not_nixon1655 yea, whenever a topic is complicated it can be hard to not get sucked down all the different tangents that are justified to go down. Its one thing i try and avoid when explaining math and science concepts because they all are built on eachother in such a crazy web. (And at the end it explains the world) I guess another way to put it is every topic is a node in a spider web, and you can get to any 1 node from any other node by navigating along the strings of the web. Its no wonder he's struggling to not get pulled in every direction and why its such a meme that detailed players like Arumba don't unpause in the first episode of any paradox game let's play. (Its just that complicated)

As someone who received a minor in Economics (Major is Supply Chain and Logistics) I would HEAVILY recommend this game for Econ students. Obviously it isn't 100% comparable to real life, but it's damn close. It does such a good job of explaining the complex web of transfers of capital, importance of trade, importance of a market based system, velocity of money (Sometimes explained now as Money Multiplier Effect) and of course Gross Domestic Product. It also is useful for military minded folk because it explains perfectly just how important supply chains are during war. Napoleon knew this better than anyone and it's why he is still revered as the greatest General to ever live.

Main problem ive seen is a problem with the idea that there really is not much of an interaction with the populations. Take manufactories, vic 2 if you were a democracy you incentivise capitalists to purchase and build a factory in an area, because your a democracy not a totalitarian or communist state. Also there does not seem to be very much in the way of influencing pops specifically other then bulding buildings which is odd. Governemnt incentives are an effective way of doing the same thing but the game does not have this. The war system is well the war system, its really odd, there are no tactics or anything, no using river crossings to your advantage or tactically thinking just big number win. The cap on money is weird, why would a country actively hinder themselves by not keeping money they could keep. It just seems weird. honestly ive only seen people really get upset by the economic system. Most of the reviewers ive seen are annoyed by the military system but were accepting of it if the economy system was off the walls insane. They were let down. I frankly am not that upset, it was a niche title and i wasnt expecting it to be amazing. Sort of a lightning in a bottle. Not amazed, not in dispair, just disappointed.

I tried playing Chile at first without knowing about how the market works at all and everything fell apart pretty quickly. Pretty much every other content creator is like "its really complicated, but I want to unpause the game instead of spending 30 minutes explaining it" and it means I don't learn anything. That said, I think your explanations are as succinct as they can be for such complex topics.

First Victoria is 3, and I'm loving it now that I know what is actually going on and how to manipulate it. When I first booted up, I was completely confounded. I was playing the tutorial and it gave me no idea why I was doing what I was doing, which is frustrating since I'm a veteran Stellaris and HOI player. It was just having me press this button and then this button and click next. Videos like this have gotten me to be where I feel like I could play any nation competently. However, I don't know how much I'll like the monarchies. I love monarchy in HOI but the republic mechanic in the US is really fun with how the populace can just swing the power of the parties, or sometimes you have to make a coalition to appease/get more legitimacy. So far the best coalition government I had was the Socialist Party and the Free Trade Party completely ousting the Whigs and the Democrats, after the Whigs had dominated politics for decades. Now the southern elites have complete control with the Silver Legion. Which is interesting since I abolished slavery in like 1849, we have social security, welfare, social healthcare, multiculturalism, women's suffrage, maxed dedicated police, and national guard rank 3, all acquired by 1872. TLDR; Northern industrialists and socialists modernized the society and industry, avoiding the civil war, and now the southern elites have used their increased wealth from their plantations to seize control of the presidency and congress to push for their own interests.

I like how this Vic 3 guide is an hour long and he still hasn't even mentioned military. Goes to show how complicated this game is.

Many thanks. So far much more useful than tutorial in the game but they add to each others so nice to see where this goes from here! Any posibility to show ”beginner friendly totorial” also using simpler country, Sveden or somethinf like that?

i love that there are beginners guides but 15min in and i understand even less then before, i never played this type of games so i would love some more detailed guide and slower paced to understand things one at a time

God damn this game looks a bit complicated but hearing you talk about it sure makes it seem like its worth the investment. Gonna give this a try.

This must have changed, from the beginning in my game the Shoganate no longer have an interest in colonialism. Making the success rate drop from 50+ to around 17% before I even finished researching it.

I'm convinced that anyone who can professionally play these games for fun should be voted into local, city, county and state government roles. imagine how more efficiently shit would work.
