My pre-SoI formation was 60/20/20 without exception. Conscripted units are set to be Infantry, with conscripted artillery mixed in when necessary. I have no particular reason behind why that is my army setup but that is my preferred setup. I usually cycle out the cavalry and leave them in a separate unit once Trench Infantry and Siege Artillery are in play and replace them with artillery. Never had the patience for the slow game time of late game so never cycled them back in let alone got to tanks. Really need to do a full run to get the achievement of reaching 1936. On a completely unrelated note, I've been trying to find a video on KZbin showing off the different appearance of armies in a battle/on the line based off of what units and mobilization options they are using in the army but I have yet to find one.

I like 50/45/5 Armies with 4 generals (1 on defence and 3 on offence) for my main armies, which lets me detach a 45/45/0 with a defensive general and let the remaining 5/0/5 with 3 offensive generals on rapid advance go wild whenever I find myself on an undefended front (3 generals on offence to let me attack in 3 places at the same time). However, I tend to go on the offence to finish the war quickly most of the time, since it's not always the case that you can turtle up and wait out your enemy (depends on what war goals you have and whether the enemy can tick you down below 0). Other than that, I keep a couple of 10/10/0 armies around for quelling rebellions when colonizing, and I find that they are better at landings when there's a defending army since you first have to win the battle to take advantage of the cavalry's extra occupation, and once you win the first battle, you usually win the following ones as well, so it doesn't really matter whether it takes 3 or 4 battles to land. Cavalry is most useful when landing at the back of your enemy where they have no defence, and grabbing as much land as possible before they react to it.

Something interesting about Peasant Levies is that it gives -10% military goods cost, so it's essentially free money. I had heard some theorycrafting ideas claim that figuring out a way to switch back to it later on once your economy is cranking out military goods and once you would no longer be negatively affected by the Aristocrat political power, then it would be powerful for economic reasons. I was curious if there was anything more about that, or if things changed with the new patch. Granted, the peasant levy army is still gonna be a lot weaker than all the other options, and actually getting Peasant Levies back without pissing off your IGs after you've done a bunch of modernizing will be difficult, but it still was an interesting idea I had read.

So, Ive been using all-infantry armies for my defense armies, with 1:1 inf and arty as my offense armies. So... Ive been doing it wrong then? Is kill rate important while on the defense?
@smlter3 ай бұрын
No its not bad at all it all depends when you use your offensive and defensive army it just comes down to timing and yeah kill rate is great cause it just depletes the the enemies manpower and it lowers morale and organization so using it for a defensive to a counter offensive strategy is perfect

spend X% of GDP on defence (mobilization cost incuded)

@@smlter Less frantic a pace, more pauses to show things rather than glance over them, and more dramatic effects. The frantic style only works if you have a climax in what you are saying that you can lead people to. And then allow them to recuperate and absorb, for the next section.
