@@depthspader8820 Are the corroded nickels always the wartime 40s?
@depthspader8820
@depthspader8820 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is either a 1944 or 1945 nickel. Those are the only old nickels that were made of steel. They started using steel again in 2000 and newer nickels.

Very nice Mike. I dont think that corroded thing is a fishscale. That Costa Rican old coin is cool.

good hunt, at the same time I'm jealous "in a good way" of you finding the costarrican ten cents, I am from Costa Rica and last time i went to CR i didn't fine a coin like that, hopefully next time that i go to CR i'll wet some, good for you happy hunting body
@CanadianHistoryHunter
@CanadianHistoryHunter 5 жыл бұрын
You can be in any country and find a CR coin. It might take some time but don't give up. Hopefully you'll find one soon!

I wish I had the luck you had , I used to live in the gta but now I'm near kingston
@CanadianHistoryHunter
@CanadianHistoryHunter 5 жыл бұрын
Isn't detecting not allowed in Kingston? Kingston is a very historical place so if you put in hours of research you'll know the exact areas to detect and might even find double what I find. I detect for a few hours almost everyday and sometimes get nothing good. So keep working hard and you'll find lots of good stuff!

Canadian History Hunter I know kingston is a very historical place but I live in the middle of nowhere and Kingston is the closest big city but I'm still 45 mins away. In my little village we have some old sites and I also live on a farm. So there is good stuff around me but maybe it's because I have a crappy detector ( bounty hunter 4).

@@twinstreasures7742 compare maps from the 1800s to the maps now and find where houses used to stand. then detect around the area. keep detecting on your farm because you might find great stuff.

I would die to go metal detecting with you! You find so much great stuff! All I really find are pennies and the occasional coin that I can spend! How long do you detect for?
@CanadianHistoryHunter
@CanadianHistoryHunter 5 жыл бұрын
J Edwards maybe someday we will detect together. But the reason why I find so much stuff is because I put in so many hours of research and so many hours of detecting. I’m getting more busy so I’m not out detecting as much but I usually go out at least 4 - 8 hours every few days

What does fishy mean?
@CanadianHistoryHunter
@CanadianHistoryHunter 5 жыл бұрын
J Edwards fishy is the nickname for those small 5 cent coins because they look like fish scales. I’m not sure if you’ve seen one in person but they are tiny, they are way smaller then dimes
