Hi Mike! Big fan and I have watched all of your videoes! I also have a CTX 3030 and just got it. What mode, target id, sensitivity, etc, do you usually use when you use your machine? Thanks

In my sixtys and originally from niagara. Lived in northern ontario most of my life. Coming to visit this summer. Might be my last trip down as no family alive in niagara anymore. Metal detect once in awhile in old lumber camps up here. Keenly interested in war 1812. Would like to metal detect in queenston or near other battlefield sites. Would like to find a musket ball. It was always on my bucket list. Does anybody know of any land owners that would allow me to detect? I just want to find a musket ball and any valuables (gold, silver etc), i would gladly give to land owner. I retired from law enforcement 11 years ago and would like to make a trip back home. Any help would be appreciated.

NEVER pull or pry out unless you want broken bottles! Get yourself some smaller tools like long neck screw drivers and ice picks. Ya gave me a heart attack prying your shovel up against the bottle. The idea is to slowly scrape back the debris away from the bottle to clear its path to be gently lifted out. The stress you are putting on your bottles will cause cracks, explosions and chips. Just saying.

I think the rectangle shaped metal that has the pretty design on it, may have been a sweets tin cover or lid. It may also be a book cover plate. They were added decorative plates to attach to a personal Bible, diary or journal. It's a rare and great find. I give you a lot of credit for detecting and dump digging while there is snow on the ground. It must make for some hard digging!

An old slot screwdriver or a 2 prong carving fork will dig these out of your face ( vertical surface you're digging).

Wish older houses in Canada would be saved… We have so few older buildings, and I bet it would be a very gorgeous house with great character if it was restored. It sure would have been much better if it never got into such a sorry state to begin with… What area of Ontario is this? If it is within a few hours of the Toronto metro you think someone would have purchased it, things have become just so crazy price wise when it comes to real estate in southern Ontario these days… But to be honest if it was to be purchased it would most likely be torn down. It seems like most people here don’t have much appreciation for our historical buildings… But cool finds!

Rainy day here in Fla. today, so have been watching bottle digging videos. These guys out in North Dakota dig down 6' to 8' and haven't found glass older than the 1890's . Am fascinated with the ink and opium bottles and the brown jug.. Watched a guy dig out a beautiful very large bean pot @ 7' that didn't have a scratch ! Then you pull out a jug with the handle still pristine ! You guys are awesome !! @
