I think Victorinox should invent Alox scales that hold tweezers, toothpick, & pen in order to have the best of both worlds.

Now THAT would be perfect! I LOVE the look and feel of alox but sure miss the scale tools when I carry one

Or at the very least make Alox scales with cutouts for the back tools. I'm a little surprised they don't make those. That'd be so easy...

I have two Cadets, as well as many other 84mm, 91mm, 111mm Victorinox knives. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages. I remember once going to a bar where security gave patrons a pat down at the entrance. My options were (1) not going in or (2) putting the Cadet in my shoe before going in. I opted for option #2 and it was a successful mission. I even used the knife at the outdoor smoking area to cut a cigar. Other bulkier knives would have been more challenging to hide.

The Cadet is definitely one of my favourite knives, so small and slim but very sturdy and very useful.

Thank you for another thoughtful and concise video. I've daily carried an alox Cadet for over a year and totally love it. Dead simple and slight in the pocket. The Cadet feels like a gentleman's multi tool.

Thank you for the comments! 🙂 I agree, the Cadet is a peach! Absolutely beautifully made and does feel more refined than the standard red plastic.

I prefer the file over the secondary "pen" blade myself. Wish more SAK models had the/a file.

Yes I agree - really useful as a small Phillips driver, general prodder/priser and also as a file for nails or smoothing wood/plastic. Very useful tool. 👍

I've had the Alox for 32 years! Mine has the pointy Awl instead of the file. Still looks new.

It’s hard for me to rule out the Cadet (or even an ALOX Classic SD) since seeing your video on using two stick on phone wallets where you put one of these slim knives inside it. Now I keep seeing myself weirdly storing one inside my actual leather wallet for some reason. To be honest, I don’t even care for the file on the Cadet. I’d prefer a second blade like the Tourist has. I just like it cause it’s so thin, yet looks very durable.
@brawndothethirstmutilator98482 жыл бұрын
The Pioneer has the file replaced with a reamer. It’s sharp enough for small cutting to count as a second blade and works well for scraping, punching holes, starting screws. It’s available in alox.

I do love the cadet for the way it looks, feels and it slim toughness. Find myself missing the scale tools sometimes though - pin, toothpick, tweezers and a pen. I actually like the file - very rarely use it as a file but it’s a great backup Phillips driver and general scraper/prodder.

Alox for me, please :) However, I have a Jetsetter on my keys (for the scissors, small Phillips, toothpick and tweezers), and in the winter, I also carry a Compact in my coat pocket for all the extra features (pin, pen, micro driver etc).

But on the cellidor versions you can simply replace the scales and have a like new knife again.

If you find the time can you do a video on how to remove and customise the scales? I found your channel last week and I've nearly watched all your videos 😊. Also who's the guy that makes the micarta scales?
@accoutrements44692 жыл бұрын
There’s quite a few vids on Pootube of how to remove the plastic scales from ‘em! Basically you just slide a thin blade underneath and carefully prise them off - it’s very easy, but yeah perhaps I’ll do a quick vid of how to do it - I do actually have some new scales which should be arriving tomorrow so I’ll do it then if I remember! And the Micaela scales are from Taschenmessermad - he sells on Etsy, he’s in uk but ships worldwide and I can highly recommend his work and him as an excellent seller to deal with! 👍👍

@@accoutrements4469 isn't it the Pioneer X at that point? The point is the cadet is to be extra slim. If scissors were introduced, it'll get thicker :)
