You’re right, one is for urban, and one is for outdoor and general purpose use. Both of them are still very useful no matter what environment you’re in. I have the smaller Victorinox saw blade, it does a really good job.

Victorinox for saw and scissors, no way out. If one needs pliers, he can always get the SwissTool X.

So I used the Leatherman surge in afghanistan on my two tours and it was an awesome multi-tool. If needed, it could have been a stand alone tool. The victorinox cannot take the abuse but it can be used in the bush, just cant abuse it like the leatherman. But for just carrying in your pocket or needing a screwdriver in the house, the victorinox is still great

victorinox is better

Agreed. The Leatherman is better if you are going to war or building a house. The Outrider is better if you know exactly what you are going to be doing and only need something light that can do basic camp tasks and all your gear is in great shape.

The pliers is a must. If I could combine outrider with dependable pliers it would be optimal. As is I carry 2 tools outdoors

Good comparison video. Nice job. I would like the Victorinox Outrider for outdoors, the new version comes with the liner lock. I have the Leatherman Wingman for my urban EDC. I am considering getting the Victorinox Huntsman for an EDC as well. Thanks for the review.

@@DGOutdoorLife Me too, I think its awsome with the lock. I was considering the wave but after many video's I chose the outrider, I have a Champ too and together is a perfect combo.

Tiene que tomar en consideración que al cortar un trozo de madera en la mitad es más fácil y rápido ya que el peso va abriendo la madera y el corte es más liviano

Comparing a smaller saw vs a bigger saw is pointless when the saw on the Leatherman is a part of a system that the Victorinox is lacking. So compare the tools as a whole, and then you'll see the Leatherman come out ahead because it is more versatile with pliers, and other tools the Victorinox (in this case) lacks. There will come a time when you will want pliers, even out in the wilderness, then you'll wish you had the Leatherman.

@@omarmahmuzic Oh and I do like Victorinox. I have the Victorinox RangerGrip 58 Hunter, and also plan on getting another model (maybe even a SwissChamp), especially for those nice scissors. :)

The bottom line is that no saw on a Leatherman is as long as on Victorinox 111mm models. Most of them aren't even as long as the ones on 91mm Victorinox knives, and the one on my Rebar is so thin I don't use it. Comparisons like this are useful and relevant as everyone has different criteria for what they need in a multitool and if a saw is more important better to go for a SAK. Tbh if you take a pair of separate pliers in your kit with a 111mm SAK that could be a better solution.
@Northanteus3 жыл бұрын
@@simonh6371 Leatherman Wave has a diamond file, which can help sharpen your other tools. Victorinox doesn't include this on their multitools, so you'll have to bring a separate knife sharpener as well. Leatherman did some things better than Victorinox, and vice versa. It's all up to the individual and what they see as priority. Quite subjective.

Leatherman is dogshit US garbage. Victorinox is European excellence like everything from Europe. That’s about it. Quality wise they are primary school football team (leatherman) vs champions league (victorinox).
