My son is 13 months old. Before he was born, I bought him a camouflage Spartan. On one of his birthdays, he will be gifted a SAK that is literally as old as he is. He will learn both knife safety, and probably first aid, on that day. :D

That’s a great gift, with a great story. I’m sure he will cherish it, or at least the memory for many years to come.

I like the hook and lately been using the corkscrew, but I carry a rucruit. So, that's at home. I sometimes use the can opener as a hook, but I just got the recruit and never end up using it. I like it's size.

Yes, the small screwdriver tool works great for Phillips, been using it for that for years. The Tinker has the actual Phillips screwdriver but it is polished so good that it usually slips in the screw notches. I used a small file to get the polish off of the tip so that it would grip the notches in the screw. Great knives, great review, thanks.

The plain backsprings are nice if you wittle and sometimes press your thumb against the back of the knife. And if you compare it to a two-baded pen knife or other traditional slipjoints, it's really a very good and useful little knife.

Thanks for yet another great review!👍Without the back tools do you feel, that the back springs are snapper, like in the alox models, or are they on par with other cellidor models?

I like that mat, where can I get one? I just got my first Victorinox a couple of weeks ago, the Pioneer X, I love it.
@txtoolcrib4 жыл бұрын
The mat is actually just an 12 x 18 clear mat with a 12 x 18 texas flag underneath. I searched high and low for a Texas themed mat and came up empty handed. Good choice on the Pioneer X, one of my favorite SAKs.

Put the Recruit bottle opener head-to-hear against the Wenger bottle opener and you'll find the Wenger bottle opener works a lot better. Always catches the cap and doesn't slip off. And the SAKs made in the Wenger factory are about the same size -- 85mm.

Swiss Army knives always seem like a beginner cheap knife. I think the blade on them is cheap. A good starter knife for a kids first knife
@txtoolcrib4 жыл бұрын
In some respects you’re right, they don’t have the blade quality of higher end knives. They do however offer functionality that a regular blade is not going to give you. I think that, more than anything, is why people are drawn to them.

84mm > Goldilocks . Recruit is my actual edc . No keyring (grind off ) , no can opner (grind off ) to reveal a small flat with very good clearance and a excellent 2d Phillips . Just as a bonus it still works as a can opener. Video to prove . I sometimes swap it for the 84mm Tourist if I'm falling adventurous? Angler on high days and holidays, Swiss Champ , I'm just not man enough it lives in the drawer along with the Swisstool .
