Thanks Man, you have discovered many new ways to use the tools. Limited only by the imagination. True story I was on a beach holiday in Mexico and I found a green coconut but I broke my folding knife attempting to open it. I threw away the broken knife and went into town to buy a new one where I purchased a Swisschamp, when I got back to my beach accomodation I managed to use the reamer and saw to get inside the coconut, after that I said I will always travel with a swiss army knife. Its the way you can solve problems that makes it extremely useful. I carry mine on a clip similar to you and it comes in handy many times per day. It often features in my videos. Thanks for your great video you are a legend. 👍🙌🙏🔪

I was perusing the Ranger to carry together with a Knipex Pliers, also to experience the Vic file/metal saw...but I also wanted a Vic with the little pliers out of curiosity and was considering the Tinker Deluxe as a minimalist one and done urban tool...but then again I wanted one with the inline Phillips and looked at the Explorer...so then I just thought what the heck and bought a Swisschamp (my 10th SAK now lol) and I'm so glad I did. It isn't too big to carry like some say, it sits snugly in the 5th pocket of my jeans.

I gave my 12yo niece a SAK Huntsman this month, on her first camping trip with us. When she WASN'T on her phone (oh well), she was examining her new knife. Later that day, we had eggs for breakfast. Great video again, as always Nikos! My question to you is which do you prefer, the older model Champ with the more powerful 8x magnifier and longer tools, or the newer one? I was disappointed when they switched over the the cheaper looking and lower power magnifier. I have kept my champ (and some kind of SAK) as my EDC for decades now. Thanks for sharing what you do so well with us. I have learned much from you. Happy Father's Day -Dave

hi.loocking cheaper but i think is not a lower quality,just a different design,if i coulden't star a fire with the newest version,yes i would a problem about the power,but now is the same for me.the older phillips is longer and could grab some a little bit deeper place screws,but the the length difference is not big.also the new has 3D head tip and works a little bit better,also has a notch and is more difficult to close on fingers.thanks.

of course its a nice tool of superior quality, but there is no way in this world on this plannet, that you can compare the pliers of this victorinox (barely fit the head of an ant) with the pliers of leatherman surge for instance (comfortably fit the head of an elephant). Same for the knife. Ok, ...being small and fit in your palm its nice, but its not nice at all when you need real size pliers lets say and don't have it because you meant to be small and light !!! Don't get me wrong I have many models victorinox and realy adore them for its quality and versatility but just had been times that wished I had the big leatherman's surge knife or the the big leatherman's surge pliers with me and get my job done !!! which I could'nt with my victorinox.
@nikgyver7
@nikgyver7 4 жыл бұрын
I do not compare different sizes of pliers,nothing going wrong with both sizes of pliers,just have been created for different tasks.a small pliers made to have it with you anytime and is more effective for small points and detailed and precise use.many timew the small pliers do the job because the full size pliers was to big.if you want something for more hard and powerfull tasks,you are going in a full size pliers like swisstool,spirit or leatherman ect.with my videos I'm try to show the way to think alternatively using our mind to find solutions when we do not have the right tool.thank you.
@leonidasegiades7620
@leonidasegiades7620 4 жыл бұрын
@@nikgyver7 I didn't say that you compare different sizes pliers. I speak in general, that to my opinion, small pliers are almost useless compared to big ones. The big ones are needle nose like and can fit where whole small can fit, at least. Most important, to my opinion also, is that big ones they have big solid handles, where you can apply tremendous amount of force, excactly like standard pliers tool. With small ones I could never apply the adequated force for difficult jobs to get donne. On the contrary, whatever job I did with small pliers (we speak for real every day life tasks), I executed it, lot faster, easier and more convinient with big ones. Concerning knives, allthough the problem is not that big, I believe that with the longer, bigger and sturdier blade you work faster, easier and more safely. Let's say you want to cut a watermelon, only few centimeters longer blade makes huge difference for the task. To my opinion there only few detailed jobs you can perfom easier with a smaler blade but most multi tools have a secondary smaller knife for such a job and most times you can even execute them with the bigger knife, if you are meticulous enough. Also is extremely important for me, safety wise, for the blades to get locked in place. Do not get me wrong, I have many victorinox models and love them all. I am just stating here my opinion, after many years of use, various types and brands multi tools. To my opinion, it worth carrying a bigger multi tool and get the job done, than saving few grams of weight and have limited options. Exception is when you need to go somewhere well dressed like wearing a suit and you don't want to carry something big and noticeable. Personally in such cases either I don't carry any multi tool at all, or I leave the big one into my car. You 're doing nice job, presenting the uses of victorinox and even find some news ones, keep up with it.

They have different uses. There are plenty of tasks that small pliers are useful for and I’m having trouble thinking what larger pliers could do out in nature that small pliers couldn’t.

I sometimes carry Knipex Cobra XS pliers together with my Swisschamp. They are small, 100mm long, in fact the jaws are thinner than those on the Vic pliers, but they are forged so they are 100x stronger than the pliers on your Surge, which are only as strong as the weakest point, i.e. the pivot between pliers head and handles. There are vids on youtube of big German guys standing on one handle of the Knipex, as it's locked on to a bolt, sticking out of a wall, it doesn't even move. Open your Surge, put one handle on the ground with the other one facing upwards and stand on the end of the top handle. You won't of course because you know it will break like an eggshell.
