I always feel like the JCM800 ends up beating our most “better JCm800s” The newer iterations always smooth it out too much and take out too much of the clank that makes it so good in a mix

After trying the Victory Kraken (EVH Stealth clone imo) I tried Victory’s The Jack and am really liking it. Me thinks its a keeper.

The "get new riffs" people are actually idiots. By playing the same/similar riffs through all of these different amps with same/similar mics, you're creating a tremendous database of reference tones for each amplifier. I think thats where you and Kyle Bull get it absolutely correct. It feels very pro-consumer looking at it like that as well.

Thank you so much for what you said here. I really appreciate that. Some people think we need to write a whole new set of riffs for each episode. That's impossible! Also, I play those riffs for a reason, I call them " Tire kicking riffs." I'm looking for things when I play them. I use bar chords, single notes, pinch harmonics, and open chords as well. I also slide the cords around and things like that because I'm looking for a certain feel and response from the amplifier. Thank you so much for being intuitive enough to appreciate that. Cheers!

More gain, more gain. The funny thing about that is that the Dokken riff you keep playing was recorded with half the gain you had.

actually, the dokken riff was played with 64.6% of the gain. John Dokken, the guitar player in Dokken band has tried to sue people for "playing the riff without permission," and thru public records searches I was able to determine that Dokken only used 64.6% of the gain before tape saturation and compressors were used. He used 64.6% gain nearly 40% of the time on nearly 100% of his albums.

I dunno, it sounds good, but the "captain's" failure to disclose his shares in Victory after promoting them for years kinda turns me off of them. Shouldn't bother me, but it does.
