the graphics and the music are clear winners , really captures that 90s arcade sega feel, tried the demo, loved it, the game is on top of my wishlist, a deffo pickup on a fall or winter steam sale for me since that is just how i work, only buy during sales, even if the game has no discount, weird, but keeps me from buying games left and right.

I think i get what you are saying on the handling, and it could possibly just be down to the perspective, i feel like the car would feel more dynamic if it had more precise animations, im sure when i last looked it was like a clone of power drift in style, yet im glad it went the 3Dsprite route as i just dont get on with those games other than outrun and similar clones these days. Drive rally next? or is that on the early access back-burner? heh

That Jonathan Frakes stuff was fun, surprisingly, using sprite as 3D object doesn't look out of date, maybe that's why Doom clones (boomer shooter) are popular today. Now I need someone to turn SCUD Race demo on Dreamcast to real game.

I guess in a way, Mario Kart 64 was the first to have the triple boost motion. Power sliding while swinging left and right with counter steer to increase the boost.

@@TeamVVV Hang On. Same thing goes for low poly 3D games. Virtua Racing was low poly flat shaded but the models were set to scale. For some reason developers believer low poly means cute and must make the trees and stuff cute looking.

Disagree with that. There are all kinds of low poly titles out there that aren't cute. A lot of them aren't very good games either. This on the other hand has a well crafted and consistent creative style, something a lot of these retro inspired titles fail to achieve.

So, as a dev fad it gained traction about 10 years ago. Trouble is, most devs do it wrong. VHR gets it right, only thing in question is the cars, where a 3D model could arguably have worked better.
