For a bedroom setup do you think the captor x can really make this shine? I have one but can’t turn it up loud and dosnt sound the best and my pedals aren’t really helping because I can’t get the level on them past a third of the way up

Thanks for the comment. Yes, I use the Captor X with my Victory V40 and I love the results (both for room playing and for silent recording with cabinet simulation). If you just need the attenuator though, you could probably use a different product (cheaper and with more level control as the Captor X just has 2 levels of attenuation). Thanks for the great review. Been thinking about getting this amp for live playing. Is it still working out for you? Overall reviews on this amp are great but I've heard from others it may be a bit dark. Wonder if that partially dependent on the cab? Really dig this amp's simple straight forward design. Not much to get lost in or distracted with. Thanks again.

Thanks for the comment! I think your assessment it's pretty good already. It's an awesome amp, great for live playing, great headroom, great master volume control and super simple controls. It is indeed a bit on the dark side and at times I do wish it had a bright switch or presence knob so that I could dial that into my clean sound. On the other hand I think that really helps making pedals sound great. It's very difficult to get those terrible shrill or fizzy sounds with this amp. A bright speaker might help. I love pairing it with the IR of a Victory Copper cab loaded with alnico speakers, also some Fender cab loaded with Jensens work well. But these were all IRs, so can't comment on the real deal. I use mine with a Harley Benton cab loaded with a creamback 75 and it's a great round and versatile sound although not super bright. I hope it helps

​A guitar player best friend is a EQ pedal. David Gilmour for example used more eq pedals in his rig to shape the tone further. Put it in the effectsloop (or in front of the amp) and don't get into extremes. A little boost in the higher frequenties is al it needs. I use this trick all the time if I'm playing a darker/brighter amp. When it's too bright you do the opposite. A boss eq will do the trick and they are cheap. You can modify it if you think it's too noisy (few euro's and a hour of work). I like your channel because you keep things simple and don't use a lot of gear that is over expensive. Keep on rockin man.
