What were your reasons for going with a separate inverter and battery charger rather than the model that combines both into a single Victron box?

Gives me a few more options to upgrade the charger or inverter if needed, and I prefer discrete components so there's more redundancy if a component fails. One of the reasons I moved away from the all-in-one power pack that came with the caravan.

Доброго часу. LYNX SHUNT має два однаковых гнізда VE.Саn. Одне для зв'язку із GX, а інше глушиться резистором RJ45. Питання? Куди можна використовувати інше гніздо, яке заглушено буде RJ45, невже можливо паралельне підключення декількох LYNX SHUNT? Навіщо продублювали гнізда VE.Can?

Nice. Can you keep the 230 volt charger parallel on the dc to dc charger? Without the switch? I want to charge my trailer battery for the mover and winch but sometimes the battery runs low and I have to charge I with 230volt. That’s why I’am asking.

Hello William. Yes, the Victron equipment is smart enough to sense that another charger is connected and supplying power to the battery. I have 3 power supplies connected simultaneously (230V charger, solar charger, DC-DC charger) with no issues. I am sure Victron expect people to connect up multiple charging sources without worrying about switches.

The Orion b2b should be mounted vertically to allow heat to dissipate. Mounting horizontally could tend to store heat rendering the large heat sink ineffective unless accompanied with a fan. Otherwise, neat.

Thanks Ashley, well spotted! I did note the orientation requirement in the installation guide, but I ended up being a little lazy with my cable routing around the edge of the panel. The B2B is only used when I'm hitched and traveling, to keep the battery topped-up. So it does not work very hard, and the compartment where I have the equipment mounted is well ventilated, especially when I'm traveling.

ive noticed this with all branded dcdc chargers with install videos on youtube, the manual clearly states vertical installation. people place them how they feel

@@man.i.literally.failed6772 Yup, I read the manual and mounted it as I wanted to. There's good ventilation so I'm not at all worried about trapped warm air.

@@Mattdavid-swfl I do agree. They are a little quick and dirty connectors that I crimped through the insulators. I did check security after crimping and the core was beefy enough to get a solid crimp.
