Why is the battery protect needed if the lynx bms has a low voltage disconnect built in?

Hey Tuckie, great point! We recommend using the battery protect to easily control the low and high disconnect for different applications. You can also use the battery protect for incoming high voltage spikes in the opposite side of the BMS. Hope this helps.

On smaller vans, can the batteries be mounted under the vehicle in protective cases wired to the components inside the van to save space?

Yes, they can be mounted under the vehicle, however, the batteries are expensive and vulnerable when exposed to the elements. They also do not perform well in cold temps so if you are operating in extreme temps you will experience issues. Batteries perform best when stored at or around room temp. I hope this helps.
