Excellent video. We love our Nomadic 3000 and use it while building in 100 degree heat, parked in the shade. The temperature is pleasant while working.

I tell people the same thing. These air conditioners are not like. House air conditioners. The best air conditioner is the air conditioner in the vehicle itself. Naturally, the natural air conditioner that comes with the vehicle. The only downside to it is. You gotta keep the engine running. But my old camper Van I used to put a house air conditioner in there and I use a generator and you are right. It never cooled a vehicle down at all. Never people think because you're insulated in the vehicle. It's gonna cool down a vehicle not true at all. Your vehicle is still open, regardless how you insulated?

Good video. I think you also have to factor in insulation. And, there is a difference between a light colored vehicle and a dark colored vehicle when it comes to direct sun.

DC air conditioners cool slowly and are meant to maintain an already set temperature. AC air conditioners pull tons more power, but they cool much faster. Both have their place, and both are good options. For the normal everyday person, spring for a mini split and you'll save thousands upon thousands of dollars

Was the 85 degree test done after it was outside during the day? I’m skeptical about the methodology here. Not hating here, admire what you guys do so this is a genuine concern. For example, I rented a tiny 100 sq foot cabins two weeks ago. Both had 6900 BTU 120vAC air conditioner units. One was in full sun during the day and did not cool well at all at night unlike the other one that was in full shade all day. Was this van in the sun all day then brought into the 85 degree shop for the test. If the van has been baking outside all day in the hot sun then night falls, well that ac unit has to cool down that greenhouse stored energy. If it’s just been sitting in a 85 degree garage away from the sun, then well that’s an impractical test to me. I am going to be doing a test with a 6900 120v portable (home plug) in a Eurovan camper this weekend just to learn what it can do during the day. Still learning here.

I did watch I think that video you refer to which states to run the AC from the van to cool it off first, park in shade, insulate the van, seal off the front cab, have a divider for your sleeping quarters to cool just that area, etc. Tomorrow will be 89 degrees full sun here, will try shade, etc. I realize I don’t have a DC unit, but at least a 6900 BTU 120v will give me some idea what that high of a BTU will do. I was shocked that the cabin in the full sun couldn’t keep up for a 13 foot by 8 foot cabin. Not insulated but fully sealed cabin. Guess I shouldn’t have been as shade is king.

The van was inside all night, not planned we just dont leave vehicles outside. The goal of the video was to show people how hard it is to cool a van in direct sunlight on a hot day. And most importantly to make sure we are not overselling/ overstating the capabilities of our or any ac units that we sell. DC air conditioner units will increase your comfort range but at some point they may not be affective. Great question and thank you for watching :)

@@jonathanmarc8629 That makes sense. I did the little experiment today with my Eurovan Camper with a typical R2D2 like unit that you’d get from a home center that runs off 120v. 6900 BTU on a 89 degree full sun day. It couldn’t cool the white van with limo tinted windows down as low as your unit did on a hot 115 degree day. My van isn’t insulated, however it really says a lot to me how well insulated and efficient your Nomadic 3000 unit must be to achieve what you did. Just goes to show you can’t outdo the sun’s BTUs. Shade or nightfall is ideal. Thanks for the video upload. Still a lot to learn with cooling in the shade during the day and at night. Suppose humidity also plays a factor. Low Arizona vs high Southern heat.
