Aw man! That too is my dream setup! 2x 5000 W Victron Quattros split phase. But, since I am only in a van I scaled down to 2x Victron Multiplus IIs 3000va inverter/chargers (~2300w per leg @ 20amps max total) as I too will have a 38 SEER mini split (240V) and a 240v Cinderella Comfort toilet w/ 21k watts 48v battery bank. Solar array of 1230 watts and DC-to-DC charging. Optional off grid and EV charging. When you want comforts of home and efficient products in your set up, “240 V” always enters in as a variable.

We are about to build a virtual identical system, plan on using a welder as well, did you ever feel like these were too small? Basically we are deciding if we should get two 10,000VA or if we are fine with the 5,000VA units.
@WhyNotRV

The 2 5kVA units were always more than enough for my needs. 2 10 kVA is extreme overkill in almost any RV.

Where is the neutral and ground going to your main panel? It seems like where you have your dryer and mini split should be your main panel because that’s the first connection from the inverter

I see a number of systems where autotransformers are needed. Can you comment on how you managed the system design to avoid that?
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 10 ай бұрын
Auto transformers serve a very specific purpose. In my build, due to the fact that I used two inverters that have the capability of being a master and slave unit, I was able to create whatever voltage I desired to both legs of power. My situation I wanted 240 V available via split phase power so that’s how I set the inverters up. Some people have smaller systems and use the auto transformers for different reasons. I just did not have a need.

Yes the Quattros are more expensive and I say ONLY reason for going Quattros is for the added second AC input for the generator. If not needed than multiplus is the way to go.

So this system will use ac shore power AND a generator AND solar AND batteries …….combining all those sources of power to give you power for your laundry machine. I love overkill projects that spare no expense for basic conveniences. Haha.
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 2 жыл бұрын
No… it will use AC power OR generator OR solar and batteries. 😂 and it’s more for the minisplit AC and heat pump that’s the bigger reason of the 240v need. That video comes out in a few weeks
@esquire9445
@esquire9445 2 жыл бұрын
@@WhyNotRV With all due respect, you need to look into what your system is capable of doing. Each of those Quattros has two ac inputs, one for shore power and one for generator…. And the dc inputs work separately so your solar and batteries are working on 48 volt dc… all of those can be combined at the same time to create a split phase system, 2x120v. If not, you should have saved money and bought the multiplus units. Your system is a monster, learn what it’s capable of. I question if you wired it correctly to get its full potential.

Why didn’t you run 2 12v lithiums in parallel and then run the 4 sets of 2 paralleled lithiums in series. Just makes it easier to balance the battery
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV Жыл бұрын
Great question. Depending which way you want to look at this. That’s exactly what I did but using the lithium cells. 4 cells in series is a 12v battery. 16 cells in series is a 48v. 2 sets of those paralleled is what I did here. I saved thousands and thousands of dollars by doing a diy battery setup

Love the setup but just a little quick education on Victron components. Victron 5000 VA Quatro inverters are only 4000 watts each not 5000. Victron rates components in Volt Amps and not watts. Same with the 3000VA multiplus. They are only 2400 watt inverters. Quattro 5000VA x .8 = 4000 watts 3000VA Multiplus. 3000VA x .8 = 2400 watts.
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 2 жыл бұрын
Ya I actually do know that but when I talk I do have a problem of just referencing them as watts which technically is wrong.

Don't want to be impolite, but what a waste of money! I just installed a 48 volt all in one inverter for $700. No charge controller and all the other overpriced Victron components. Yes it is a 3000 watt but they also have a 5000 watt and could have done both of them for less than $2000 and I would have your same system. How much do you have in components here $10000? My inverter weighs 25 lbs not 80. Good luck with this and to each his own
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV Жыл бұрын
No worries at all. There’s tons of great products available at affordable prices. This is why every system is so custom. There’s just too many interchangeable parts. I’m building a mock RV bench test and will be comparing a lot of products here on the channel in the coming future. I’ll be able to swap out a inverter, a solar charge controller, a battery, a battery monitor. You name it and I’m going to start testing them.
