This time we focus on the gpio_list file and how the relay configuration can be persistent using this file AND the setuphelper from Kevin! Thanks again Kevin even though I do not know you, but there are a lot of people out there using your software package and the RpiGpioSetup package is one out of them!

Great video! Thank you for posting. I bought the same relay to use to start the generator on my RV at a certain battery SOC. I saw many people doing this with a few (up to 4) external relays and it just looked overly complicated. I was able to accomplish this using my RPi and using Node Red inside of VenusOS, Thank you again!

Great video. Its just a hash though, hashtags are a way of using a hash on twitter to tag something. If you are using it in a script or config file its just a hash.

Thanks for this video it really helped me today. I have a 4 relay board and although I can see all 4 in the GUI, relay one does not have have the switch capability and has the Alarm legend. Thanks again

Hi Toby, Thanks for your videos on the relay installation. Though I have carried out all your instructions to the letter, it seems that my 3 relay board does not work as yours. Only relay 1 works and the on/off switch is reversed. Can you please help? Thanks

Hi Tobi - thank you for a good guide. I have the waveshare rpi relay board and it's almost working perfectly - my problem is that on is off and off is on..... I've been playing around with out/in etc. parameters but I get the feeling there's another configuration file or similar that handles this? Anything you would know about? Kind regards Andreas / Sweden

Hey Tobi Fab video thank you. A qustion for the cummunity, does anyone know where to get an Active High Relay per Kevins instructions. Loaded up waveshare relay perfectly but not ideal fro gene as it's Active low. Thanks in advance. Eddie

Thanks for your tutorial. I followed all your instructions for making work my relays board on my raspberry pi 3 but when I open my venus console I can't find " active packages ( tape to édit ) " nor next page " packages édition" May be I don't have the same venus os as you? I downloaded the last venus os from february 2024. I spent severals hours to try to make my 4 relays board working. Awaiting for your explaination please. Franck from France

That's weird! In the main setting there is no Package Manager at all in that list? In this case the setuphelper might not be installed correct. The setuphelper (when installed) can be found in "Settings --> Package Manager" Do you see this at all?

Hi, I have installed the three channel relay board on RPI 4 with venus os v3.14. but facing issues with relay as it's on by default. In remote console showing off. When selecting On console, that time the getting off. So, it's working in opposite direction. Can anyone help me to correct it? Thank you

Thx for video. Right now I have Venus on RPI in my LR defender truck, connected with BVM-712 and MPPT controller. Right now i'm looking for a solution for two ideas. 1. connecting one of bt/wifi temp sensor, just to show temp inside the fridge and behind it. And it is too hot, turn the 12v fan on. One of your latest videos shows use of relay board, but i would like to make it automatic. Or, if bt connection is impossible, use DHT11 sensor behind the fridge. Any ideas how i could achieve this ?

I have a motorhome with victron / Venus / Rpi already and thinking what could I do with relays? Not just switch some lights and integrated do not even work as it has a canbus electronics already. Any ideas? Like your videos as they are not too complicated. Got only limited Linux skills but strong DOS background from the 80's helps a lot! 😂

I’m having issues with the way my relays are set up with Venus os and I’m not quite sure how to fix it. When power is applied to my raspberry pi my relay boards normally closed will open. I’m not telling it to do anything just connecting power to my raspberry pi. The problem this causes is when I lose power the state changes. Any idea how do I fix this? Thanks.

Oh, interesting. I'm not sure at the moment. I do have the Pi running usually all the time so I do not have this use case had so far. Let me see if this is the same for me

i did the new venos os 3.22 update and had to re install package manager and set up helper . i had to re install the nano gpio list and for whatever reasons my relays are not firing in the same order even though i added the exact same gpio list. any idea why this is happening?

Interesting. Are you using the GPIO list in this folder? /data/setupOptions/RpiGpioSetup/gpio_list

@@tobisreallifeskillswithtobi yes. I think for whatever reason when I copy the list and paste it into putty it’s not all pasting even though I copied all of it.

@@Ryan-nd3zh You can try to connect with WinSCP and try to edit the file in a notepad for example. If that helps

i was mistaken the complete list was pasted into putty. not sure why im having this issue. ill confirm the pin out but i suspect they are correct as i didn't change it. @@tobisreallifeskillswithtobi
