This reminds me of a similar incident in Oakland, Ca some months ago, a man was trying to steal a catalytic converter. He had the car jacked up. But somehow the jack failed, then the car fell on his chest, and crushed him. The owner came out for work and found the thief expired under the car....

I played Professional Paintball for team Edmonton Impact in 05/06. I can confirm. I’ve always thought they’d work good especially if aimed at the head. You can easily lose an eye. This is assuming whoever you’re facing doesn’t have a firearm. A paintball gun is literally an air gun.

I love how the one guy at the end yelled out the license plate information for the recording. So the cops wouldn't have any problems finding the car later. Then you see that one on the driver side was under attack and too scared he didn't even get in the car!!! The dude who ran to the car and hopped in the back seat could only sit there and wait. Two things need to be done about this one. The recycling centers that accept Cadillac converter should be required to see proof that the person owns it and two people caught doing this crime should have a mandatory five years in jail with no absolutely no chance for early release

Texas requires you to register your ID with the recycling center. Then the centers are required to take photos of the customers and track what each drop off was. But we still have very high theft rates because they just take them to Mexico.

here in Canada, these types of criminals have started stealing the catalytic converters from cars in grocery store parking lots. recycling plants should be obligated to copy the ID of anyone the units to them, if they sell more than 2 in one trip, or sell more than 2 within several months it should be a red flag. (investigators can quickly discount scrap yard workers)

The only way implementing regulations could work is if they hold the scrap yard and it's workers accountable for not following due diligence, like say they accepted a cat without asking for ID, amd the cat turned out to be stolen, the scrap yard would need to be fined and the worker would either have to be held as an accesory to the crime or be barred from working at a scrap yard

I would chase them away. But here in California, you can’t use a firearm for this situation unfortunately. As a self defense attorney once said “ why go to jail and have to hire a lawyer for something that your insurance might cover”. Even if they don’t, he said it’s around $10,000 just to start the case. After it’s all done ( defending you for using a firearm when your life isn’t in danger) roughly around $100,000. I would just call my insurance.
