Yes not releasing the name of a person who’s charged with a crime & in custody of the State is just wrong. Glad they caught the criminal who’s recklessness killed this officer but we can’t have any govt, not state, county, city nor federal govt withholding the name of any person held in custody. If they do it here then then they do it for other cases. I know that there’s no tyranny here against the accused but all over the world the hallmark of tyranny & abuse of power has been govts that won’t release the names of ppl being held/confined. Since at least 2020 theres so many violations of thr Freedom of Indormation Act. Part of it is lazy media but in a world where everything is electronic information should be easier to get not harder.

@@Blackman1976. That’s kind of what I was thinking & honestly while I don’t care for a dirtbag cop killer, what happens when it’s someone who’s labeled “far left wing” or “far right” or ha unpopular ideas? In other words I’m not saying that anything about this defendant bothers me. I’m almost always on the side of police. But I worked inside the govt beast for over 15 years & the Freedom of Information Act was a great tool to for the ppl on top having just a little concern that the public might see how they’re spending money & with whom along with what’s really in budgets. There were ways of hiding projects in line items & the biggest reason was that the ppl on top were often in business arrangements with ppl getting govt contracts. Media has completely changed over the past 8-10 years. Once newspapers & local media was fed enough info to fill its pages, it became dependent upon that & gave up its role of getting tips from citizens & exposing corruption. But that’s getting way too far off the subject of state law in each of the 50 states requiring open records as to who’s held in each jail & prison. Sad that a good law enforcement officer lost his life here. Sorry this was so long. 👍

"12 percent of all interstate highway deaths are caused by a vehicle using the shoulder. This means that an estimated 600 people a year are killed-and thousands more are injured-while making emergency stops off the highway" Anyone that is being pulled over should be allowed to put hazards on drive to a exit and pull into a parking lot or drive way off shoulder. It would be a safe preventive measure for cops and passenger. In this case the shoulder is a good size and he still got hit. Look up "Cop Flips Pregnant Woman's Car For Not Stopping Fast Enough". In that instance the shoulder was half the size. The study guide in that state says ""activate your turn signal or emergency flashers to indicate to the officer that you are seeking a safe place to stop"" My option which don't mean much, is that the shoulder of a freeway and highway is always unsafe to pull over or worse a cop not letting you get to a safer place off the freeway.
